Hiring Someone to Create a Website Any Opinions?

Imo that should certainly be the goal.

And it seems that site design affects SEO a good bit. So you think that the two would/should/could go hand in hand. But many on here (and in other circles) seem to think the two are mutually exclusive. As a client I would expect a web designer to at least have a general knowledge of seo and how site design affects it.

My point was more just the fact that it doesnt matter how great your site looks if no one visits it.

what back end cms do you use?

Refinery CMS. It is great. I am not tech savvy. Took me 3 minutes to be up and running. It is so easy. Great user interface. Makes my life easy. Invaluable for me.

You guys underestimate the value of professional design. But hey, please show me the best looking word press site you own for $500. Pennywise and pound foolish, I think. Aka cheap ass.

Some would argue you overestimated the "value" of professional design, for that $13-20k you could of had at least 3 site ranking for LTC terms

1. Get a nice quotebox/call to action so people can get right to filling out your lead form, examples would be:

Best Term Life Insurance Quotes & Rates - 100% Online
Life Insurance Quotes Rates Online » Search best life insurance quotes here.
Life Insurance Quotes | Save 73%+ NOW! | Cheap Life Insurance Quotes

2. I see you have four external do follow outbound links to the following URLs:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/lifeinsuranceadvisorsc...
https://fs16.formsite.com/mjhorbal/form181223406/s...
SSL Certificates | Secure Your Data & Transactions - Go Daddy
Home in the Best of the Web Directory...

At the very least you need to add the no follow tag, to these links, because you were leaking major link juice from your homepage. Also, there is no reason for you to be linking to your best of the web directory category. If you want to let people know that you're a member of that directory, you can still use your logo, but there's no reason to have an outbound link going to that site.

Same goes with your feed burner URL, consumers that you want to turn into leads, are not subscribing to life insurance rss feeds.

Ditto goes with the Go Daddy SSL certificate link, you can use their SSL logo, the give your site additional credibility without linking to their site.

And of course the link to your lead form needs to be no follow not do follow.

3. Site Hierachy.

you have 42 internal links going from your homepage to your sub pages, in my opinion that is way too many. I would work on having at maximum 5 to 10 important category sub pages, then link to the relevance articles from those category pages.

here is an example, you have a link from your homepage to an article about Angioplasty Life Insurance Underwriting Life Insurance Advisors, and many people are really searching for this term? Not many right? So why, waste link juice?

read up on BruceClay - Internet Marketing Optimization Company: SEO, PPC, SMM, Conversion, Design, Analytics Agency , for some great information about "seo silo" or organizing/categorizing your site correctly in general.

4. Keywords and Linkbuilding

according to lifeinsuranceadvisors.com - SEMrush's main report for domain , you seem to be getting some decent traffic , looks like you are trying to go the white route. If you want to do this, and get some respectable traffic, you're going to need to add a lot of quality articles, to rely on longtail traffic.

Thanks! That's good stuff, and had not looked at the dofollow/nofollow linking...I have read some of Bruce Clay's articles...unfortunately it was after i did the damage! I'm trying to stay white hat....i have a bunch of articles i wrote but did not want to start posting until i work out the issues on site first. thanks again

I have just started using Johnny Crabcake to develop a new website for me. It's only been one week, but so far I have been very please with the results. The framework looks great, everything is proceeding quickly, communication great. I will post again in a one week to provide an update on how its going, but so far, I would highly recommend Johnny.

Dofollow/Nofollow....Good stuff.

What's the easiest way to check what outbound links you have on home page?

I use seoquake toolbar, but if u have scrapebox that'll work too.

So build me 3 sites, get them to rank and I will give you 15 grand.

If I ranked 3 sites for LTC terms why would I turn them over to you for just $15k, more like 500k tbh. FYI any real seo agency/person is not going to accept payment after the fact, they will want up front payment, just any other professional. I am for hire for 3 sites @ $10k/mo
