How Competitive Are Aetna Medsupps?

Not sure what your post means. Other companies have much better e-apps. Obviously you don't sell for any company with a simple e-app process. I'd like to welcome you to the med supp business if you ever make it here. :twitchy:

You're just being a bully behind a keyboard. You don't know me and you don't know anything about my business. You made a smart-ass comment and you got a smart-ass comment in return

My comment about not being impressed with their e-app process was a serious opinion. I would assume most agents that carry more than one company that uses an e-app would agree with me. Yours was the opposite of a smart-ass comment...

We all entitled to have an opinion. I used MoO, Cigna, csi, new era e app and Aetna is a smooth sail as well. No big deal

Aetna is the carrier I've written the most Med Sup business for. I've replaced a lot of MOO business w/ Aetna. They have the best Plan G rates for older folks in my working area. Saved one 88 year old over $2000 per year on her Med Sup. My other main carriers include Combined, MOO, UHC, and Equitable. I've also had the most declines with them but I view that more as protecting my existing clients from crazy rate increases. If you do face to face, their enrollment kits/product brochures are very nice and easy to order.

I am considering adding them but would like to hear from some of you if you feel they are or are not competitive. Now competitive means different things for different agents, here is my definition: 1. Phone interview - I dont want a 45 minute interview that has a lot of hassles. 2. Agent friendly 3. Consumer friendly 4. Meduspp administration handled correctly the first time 5. Pricing is in the top 3 or 4 of your medsupp offerings ( I know this is different in different areas and can change from year to year) 6. They dont rape insureds with increases. I write Aetna FE currently and I like them, but we all know different departments often withing the same company operate differently. Since Aetna is kinda strange on how you add new products and states (you have to do full contracting each time), Im thinking hard about this before I move forward. Any other company I can just add a product or state with my state license and get appointed, bingo bango, not so much with Aetna, let me know what you medsupp guys think, thanks

Aetna is a staple. Once you get past their crazy contracting department the company is pretty good to deal with.

You've met my wife. She is not what you would call a power-closer. If she can sell enough Aetna Med Sups to win their trip, you know they are pretty sellable. Their name recognition does trump lower rates (within reason). Great sales kits for face to face sales. Great products for cross sales opportunities too.

A rep from Aetna will be on the agent call this week to talk about some of the cross sales products.

I do wish they had point of sale approvals like Oxford. That is a sweet feature.

I just rrecently started to use them
because of FMO error I had to add a state
they made fill out a bunch of form that were filled from original appointment
and it took a month
I wrote my 1 UW piece
Love the eapp

Hate the fact That in addition to every med (every carrier besides AARP requires all meds)

I also had to enter each doc and specialist with address and phone number

Its not the worst thing in the world usually all I need is docs name and town
to Google and get the rest

but I will selective on who I write UW with them

I also just signed contract with cigna
haven't used them yet does any one know if their eapp
is any easier?

Their e app is pretty easy. Did a uw yesterday. PI was not that terrible. But will see if they come up with a reason not to qualify.
