How could we improve Insurance Forums?

The forum used to put people in "time out". Sometimes they were locked out for a few days, sometimes it was a few weeks. I remember one or two when it was a few months.

At one time, non-insurance convos were going to be moderated into the non-insurance section.... and political discussion was supposed to be banned moving forward. That lasted all of a week, maybe.

I like the idea of just deleting posts. If a certain number of posts are deleted, then you go into time out. Repeat offenses result in a longer time out.

If someone wants to act like a child, treat them like a child

You have to shadowban them to let them get all of their frustrations out.

I find the number of pointless memes and tasteless cartoons being posted to really be a buzzkill. I mean, there's an entire thread in the FE forum devoted to such mindless, largely infantile humor. What kind of person even starts a thread like that?

However, I do love that that there is now very little insurance talk and the bulk of posts are by right wing MAGA cult member boomers who are pissed their time is coming to its long overdue end so they want to burn the shole $hitshow down for their children and grandchildren.

I guess, what I'm saying is, how can you top that? Make the forums better? I don't think I could handle the improvement!

Maybe bring back the EFES v FEX wars and the Boom Boom Room?

The forum is not really a business, I am mostly focused on running NCD, but still doing what we can to keep it a strong resource

Return the Fight Club

Honestly, this is probably the best option.

As we saw in the past, people who enjoy bickering will gravitate to that section (or live in that section as some did). Mods can move out of control threads to that section. And it keeps the focus on insurance everywhere else.
