IHIAA?? New Agent help!

I have been a broker for a Medicare Advantage plan for the last few years. I also worked as licensed agent staff for a State Farm agent for around 5 years before I did that. I am licensed in P&C and L&H. Due to the new regulations on the medicare advantage plans as well as the general instability in that market, I feel like it is a good time for me to branch out into other lines. I am currently involved in getting appointed with First Protective to sell life and disability and I am interested in what everyone thinks of them.
I am also getting involved with a company that contracts for different medicare supplements in order to stay in the senior market but move away from the unstable medicare advantage plans.
Also, I am looking to get into health as this seems to be fairly lucrative and goes along nicely with life but I do not have much experience with it other than what I sold with State Farm (which was under Fortis) and my experience in the Medicare supplement/advantage plan market.
I was recently recruited by Aflac but after a few days of researching them, I don't think that is for me.
I am trying to move away from cold calling. I am willing to put some time and money into marketing and I am hoping that if I market properly and have enough of a product selection, I can eventually support an agency with that without having to cold call.
I am really wondering what everyone thinks of IHIAA and if it will really help me start selling health.
I am hoping that First Protective will be able to give me a good base with some marketing help for the life products and I think I can make it on my own with the Medicare supplements due to my experience in that area but I really don't know where to start with the under-65 health products.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated!

I wholeheartedly recommend the association and John Petrowski. The webinars and trainings as well as the community of agents are an invaluable resource for all health agents (whether rookies or veterans)

Do they actually have training and more to the website than what you can get to if you are not a member? I am looking for training and information on which companies would be the best to get appointed with. I am not really all that interested in just having access to teleconferences and webinars although I'm sure that they would be quite helpful as an addition to the information that I am actively seeking.

Truthfully yes they do alot more. Its inexpensive to become a member and the discounts you can get from lead companies more than pay for the membership. Call John at the IHIAA for the details I'm sure youll be impressed.

Just for fun if you breakdown Johns cost it is around 67 cents per day, cheaper than a soda in most machines.

I don't see how you can go wrong for such a low price point, it is a good deal.

I really like the IHIAA. But John, not so much!:goofy:

Seriously, I did not join because I'm a new agent. I joined because we can always learn something new. I've added some of my experience to the mix, and picked up a lot of good information from others.

In addition, the discounts I've received on things like leads that I would have purchased anyway have paid for membership many times over.

Also, John promised to buy me a beer if I post something nice.

That's it Rick - no girls for you in Vegas...which by the way is for real. Members are meeting in Vegas on the 15th and 16th of November so if anyone wants to join and come out to have fun, would love to have you.
