Is My Script Alright? Please Help :S

No offense, but I would hang up on you pretty quickly. It sounds like you're trying to hide what you do. Tell them quickly why you're calling.

I have mixed feelings especially about telling them you are new to the industry...although you may get the sympathy appointment, you sure arent going to woo any big accounts. I was taught to "fake it till you make it"!

I have done telephone cold calling in a limited capacity, and the biggest key thing i can tell you is to VERIFY info that you have on the person....

Hello, may i speak to Miss Helen?
this is? Great, hello helen, my name is jake how are you today?
Good...
I was assigned to try to HELP you,
I wanted to verify your address as such and such correct?
Great, and obviously i have the right number!

Let me ask you, how do you feel about your current life insurance program???
I HELP people to improve their benefits, is now a good time to do a quick review, or would you prefer tomorrow?

choice closes are always best and engaging the customers opinion is always helpfull...
hope that helps

Ok so how about one of these?

I have read alot of people say to say your last name, but I don't feel comfortable with that as I'm from a very small town where everyone knows everyone.

you'll do the best with the one you feel the most comfortable with. Based on the above, I would go with the one Full Throttle suggested. The quicker you get to the point, the better off you'll be. Try it for an hour a day for a week and see what happens. If you don't get a good response, call the same people with another script in 3 weeks. I guarantee you the people won't remember you. (Do you remember the names of the telemarketers that call you?)

And 100% of people who hear a name and a company right out of the gate (1st sentence) hang up or already closed their minds to anything you have to say because you are a TELEMARKETER. When I dont go business approach immediately but voice my intent to HELP them (which is the goal of every honest insurance professional) I get one out of three to let me fact find and present if they have a need.
I would put my script and results against yours any day of the week.

I have found that no script suits everyone, but there must be some kind of opening that catches the majority of peoples attention straight away? :1err:

Jess, I would recommend the following book by Art Sobczak
"How to Sell More In Less Time With No Rejection"

There are some great ideas in the book.

So you're saying that people are willing to clarify personal information (on the phone) before knowing who you are or why you're calling. That might work where you live, but it wouldn't here.

On the other hand, I do agree that a name with a company to start won't work well either.

Thanks Jerry

Also Briko3 do you think if I was to just say
Hi my name is Jessica... rather than Jessica from.... would work better? I think it would stop people hanging up as fast but think maybe people would think I'm rude, or could be some sort of scam not using your company name?

Jessica, use your name and jump into the reason for your call.

Now why are they going to say yes to an appointment?

Because you can do something for them, like put their mind at ease. You have important info they need to know. Most aren't going to think they don't have enough insurance or need a review.

To overcome this, you need to create doubt and concern in their minds, and if they want the answers to put them at ease they need to sit with you.

Perhaps they have a policy that will blow-up on them. How do I know if my policy is ok? I'll need about a half-hour of your time to review your policy.

"When's the last time you heard from the person who sold you your policy? How long ago did you buy your policy? What kind of policy did you buy?"

Have there been changes to the industry in the past few years? Mention these as the reason for your call. They may be overpaying for their policy, or their policy is inferior given the changes over the past couple years. You need to sit with them to educate them and make sure the insurance they have still makes sense.

We do not have the book "How to Sell More In Less Time With No Rejection" at our library, book store or online so cant have a read of that.

padthaiforlunch- I will try write a script around that, thanks!

I don't have much money to work with, what would be a good way to get clients other than calling or door to door?
