Nothing like a long hard week of knocking doors, being blown off porches, presentations with no decisions and ending up blanking the week! If you need a definition of a man, it's the guy who can take knocks like that and get up day one of the very next week and find himself in the field doing it again.

Add that I was mostly working 2 1/2 - 4 hours from home. The 'why' I slowly started closing on the phone.

It is bad during the day. It can get dangerous at sunset. But then again Oakland and Richmond was the same. But I was younger, now I just don't need to run that gauntlet.

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head. Me at 24, with zero sales experience was just tossed into it. "Say something like this, make it your own, go kill it". My first month I did as you could imagine, subpar.

But what do I possess? An immense amount of personal responsibility, courage and fortitude. I walked and knocked until almost 8pm some nights, telling myself "this next one is it, and if not, I'm just one no closer to a yes". I always saw the big picture. Don't take the beatings at the door personal, because it's not. They tell you to eff off, great, quicker they shut me down the quicker I can move on to another house.

I agree, that it certainly separates the men from the boys.
