The Settlers BK had nothing to do with their final expense.. It was very profitable.

BK = Bankruptcy (Receivership) ... Settlers did not have divisions. Their problem was the result of a cancer product. On the life, they kept everything in house and did not reinsure. They decided to come out with a cancer product. It was a great product but had the potential to have substantial sized claims so they reinsured it. They laid it off with a Martin Frankel company which was an approved reinsurer. Too bad he was a crook. Took several companies down. Not sure what BK stands for. FE or no FE, Settlers had an A- rating by AM Best one day and was in receivership the next day. I didn't say a thing about their FE division.
Doesn't matter which division(s) of Settlers caused the receivership to take place. AM Best's A- rating for Settlers was inaccurate and completely meaningless. In other words, how can anyone take the AM Best rating as accurate? Or useful?
BTW, to all those that put a great deal of credence in an AM Best rating.. Your company may be rated A with Best but what are its reinsurers rated?
Sounds like a good deal. How do the doctors get paid when dispensing medical advice via telemedicine? Is it unlimited times the insured can just call a doctor at 3 am on Sun. morning? Legacy is $4 per month so maybe that's why the other plan is $19 a month?
Guards didn't notice the lack of the ups truck?I have to follow their procedures, underwriting, etc. All agents have to do that with the carriers they write for. Your figure seem to be assuming I had a 20% to 25% over write. I only had a 5 point spread on this young beast. I take care of producers like that.
As a side note, some of his leads would be in gated communities. I heard he started dressing up like a UPS driver to get thru the guard at the gate to door knock the leads. That deserves an A for originality...lol.
I'd prefer to have him but tis is the life of someone in sales...lol. I don't let mud holes take me off my path. I either step around it or over it or in it and keep right on trucking.
Yes, I was assuming your spread was 20-25%. If it had been 20-25%, could you have fought to keep him if you trained him to be the beast he is today, or would you not have a say in the matter regardless?
