Liberty Mutual

Thanks. I'll factor that into my marketing plan...

Any particular reason why you posted such helpful advice?

I'm just that way. Anything for my fellow insurance salesman.

How is the LM job going?

Ron,

LM is going very well. Obviously pros and cons of working for any company but I can say I am very pleased.

Pros: 2 weeks all paid for training in Phoenix, AZ (Had a blast and learned a good amount). Free leads consistantly sent to you. Solid salary for training period (4 months) which is cut in half when your elegible for commission, Affinity marketing program makes it easy to gain prosepects interest. Can broker out commercial

Cons: Captive on personal lines. Renewals average 1-3%. Rates are high (LM has their specific target market). A lot of in house competition for the same accounts (stepping on a lot of toes).

All in all it is a great place to start.

Thanks for asking.

Sounds like an o.k. place to start.

xrac curious on why my great was down graded to an ok. Is there something else other captive companies offer that LM does not? or is it the fact that I am starting captive in general ?

always appreciate the input

I think LM is a great place to start. Great training, no expenses, and you are a W2 employee with benefits.

I saw/am seeing in my old office that everyone leaves after 2-3 years. You could stay and make decent money $60-$100k but with 1-3% on renewals most good agents decide to go indy after awhile.

My thoughts were that. I have a good amount of $$ saved specifically for branching off when I am ready. I am young, slightly inexperienced, and did not want to take the risk right off the bat with little industry experience. So the trade off is I bring LM business and in return they pay me a percentage and show me the ropes.

Yeah I really do see this as a starting ground..

As far as the only being able to sell liberty products.. I knew this going in, it's pretty much like any captive agent ?

Not being able to keep the book is not to much of a problem right now, I need the experience before I ever thought of diving in to the indy world.

I had all three of my interview with them now and just waiting to hear back, wish me luck.

Yeah i agree with that being an agent is not that bad but to get experience is important.Into this industry you can earn only by knowledge and some politeness.
