That is smart on thier part. They have already sunk training costs into you might as well having you sell the sister brand then the competitor.

So just being an employee of LM allows me to be appointed with safeco? It may also be regional, I'm on Long Island so I doubt they would appoint me to write business here. If they did and I could roll my book I'd be one happy guy, somehow seems too good to be true.

Ill check it out. Thanks

We were lucky with Safeco. Took us 2 months to convince them to take a chance on me. Just have to sell yourself. LM is actually trying to start a program to transfer successful agents from lm sales to safeco agents. Also Safeco wants to start a program to be the first carrier in a agency and help a new agent get started like an erie model.

Yea liberty and safeco is a quality and very competitive company in my area and if I could write business through then i could be very successful. Any idea on the minimum production for that program. I'm having a down year at 5/week policies written YTD

Thanks

How did you go about getting Safeco when you were at LM? Did you just fill out an application online or call up ?

Use them for training. They are using you and you don't realize it yet. I worked for them almost five years and got burned by them. I think they are a little friendlier now than back then but I have several friends that got burned by them. They are a very good company and usually pretty competitive but always watch over your shoulder. They have life quotas and their products are not competitive. They will destroy an excellent P and C agent with their stupidity around life quotas. Most captives have this tendency though so consider Indy route if you can afford it.

Well said Gulliver. Did you go the indy route after LM and how long ago did you escape from mother liberty ?
