I've made up my mind. I'm going for it. No, I do not have a lot of excess money for leads but I can squeek by with a couple/few cycles of DM leads once I'm officially lic and ready to go.

1) I'm leaning toward my Life Lic ONLY. Reason being - why do I need a Health lic?

My only consideration would be for MA. BUT HUGE BUT - from the reading I'v done , MA is a gamble.

2) I want to be a FE agent. When choosing an IMO, is it best to pick a Fex Contracting( who is FE ONLY) vs a Dave Duford -who's open to the masses --annuity, mortgage protection etc..

I would think being with sn IMO focused on FE is the wsy to go..

Thoughts?

Since you're already doing at least half the work that it would take to get your health license, you should get it anyway. Look at it this way; I have had many agents who wished they had gotten it when they got their life license. Not one agent in all my years ever stated that they wished they hadn't bothered with the health side (or vice-versa).

You may decide down the road you want some Med Supp companies in your bag, or maybe you will change your mind about MA Plans. Either way, it would be a huge PITA to go back and get your health license.

Both. I kept a P&C license active for 20 years after my company quit selling any P&C products, just in case I ever need it. I didn't want to have to study for it again.

About 3 years ago we started selling a little renters contents policy. I'm glad I kept the license!

I got both also. I'm REALLLLLY glad I did it that way. You're not limited to just MAPD. Med Supps are also a good addition. If you're going to test, then get them both done at once.

I'm in a very similar situation. Like you, I'm considering initially focusing on FE, but I'm also going to get health licensed.

Why?

1. The cost is very marginal, and looking at the test center fees, etc. it's only a few dollars more to do health. As I recall, it's much cheaper to do L&H together than to do L one time and come back and do H later. Also, the study materials are either packaged together or adding health is not much more. In fact, for some course providers, the cost is identical for L or L&H.

2. If you find you do well with seniors, then there are other attractive products as Todd mentions. You might be on an FE sit and someone asks about something else. I'm thinking "oh, I don't handle that type of insurance" is a painful thing to come out of an insurance agent's mouth.

3. Once your brain is geared up - you've got the time set aside, you're making flashcards or notes, you're in "study mode" - it's a lot easier to stay in that mode and continue on for another seven or whatever chapters to add Health than to come back a year from now and try to do it.

4. It gives you more career options. Better to be prepared than to have to say "well, we can talk in a month or two once I study for and sit for the health exam..."
