Link Building

Yeah i know about ezine im doing that now but im trying to diversify the links

raph,
great idea, just 13 months too late. as Josh said, doesn't work anymore.

and as far as ezine goes, i thought google took ezine to the woodshed a long time ago? I used to post content on both my blog, ezine and other sites that google cracked the whip on. now I just post from my blog only and haven't noticed a dropoff in traffic.

Ezine is at least a legitimate site. The problem with mutual appreciation societies is that they're transparent. Now, if everyone put their name in a hat and chose to feature another broker as their guest blog and linked that way along with some legitimate and unique content, that would probably be a good plan, but if everyone all links back to each other then it's not going to be viewed as having any real authority.

i see.... well good to know thanks you saved me some time. so does Ezine still have some authority?

Looks like you might have some other problems with your site you might want to consider addressing.

Go to copyscape.com, then punch your url in and hit search. You'll see the top 10 other sites with duplicate content to yours, undoubtedly there will be more. I'm not as convinced that duplicate content is penalized as many folks are, but one of the things that I'm positive of is that you're shooting yourself in the foot by not having more region specific info in there. With the only exception being your license on the bottom, when I visit your site I have no idea what state you do business in. If I don't, neither do the search engines. Just having the address isn't enough, if you're selling California car insurance, you should be listing that on your site. Redoing the content on your site is probably going to yield you better results at this point than focusing on backlinks an d such.

To answer your question, ezine still carries some weight. They do have content requirements so google will likely always give it at least some weight.

Thanks josh finally a real answer on this forum

You're welcome, you'll get them sometimes.

This forum definitely has it's own personality and if you get a feel for it then it's easier to get straight answers.

I haven't participated on many forums (half a dozen or so), but this is my favorite. It's very active with some very helpful folks. If you stick around you can get a lot more solid information if you get a feel for things. I've learned a lot on here and I was an experienced know-it-all before I joined.

If I might continue and offer just a little bit of more unsolicited advice: Your site looks awesome, but you really need to make it specific for your area (or whatever the area you want to be working in) vs the way it sits now. Right now duplicate content is killing you because there are a lot of other sites with the same, so there isn't much variation there. By contrast, even if your site was laid out the same, but you had state-specific content, you would be lightyears ahead for getting organic traffic to your site.

I'm definitely working on the content. And state specific is something i overlooked. I was wondering though, the only duplicate content is the resources, about us, and contact us tabs. this is because I used a website design company that has "pre-done" content. Would I be ok with it matching under 10% or should I just go in and spin the content?

Depends on what you're calling spinning.

Poorly spun content is worse than duplicate content because google is reading grammar now.

It's probably easier to write original content then just sticking that in TBS or something and trying to correct it.

Considering you're not blasting this all over creation, there isn't really much value to write it in spintax.

Have you done any keyword research on this?
