Link Building

Yeah I have words I want to target and i know my content is not 100%. Your actually pushing me towards scraping most of it and redoing all of my homepage content and re-doing my other pages. what I mean by spin is not to put it in a spinner but to just reword it myself. It is only the minor sections like refer a friend, locations section, and like an insurance glossary that comes with the site. Are these really things I have to change or would I be ok just leaving it?

What I mean by keyword research is looking at what terms get searched for and what the competition is like. There are a bunch of different pieces of software that can be used to do that. Most folks that do this on a regular basis have invested in it so you're not flying blind.

Tough love: I like the layout of your site, but the domain and content are both hurting you and in no small way. It looks like you haven't done any keyword research and truly have no idea what you're doing so you're doing the equivalent of putting the roof on a house before you build the foundation.

Step 1: Identify the proper keywords to be going after.
Step 2: Buy a domain based off the keywords.
Step 3: Build content based off the keyword research.
Step 4: Off site work revolving around keywords.

I only say the above because it looks like you're asking for advice and I'm not meaning to be rude, but sometimes you light a match and walk out. You can certainly leave your website the way it is and you might get some activity to it. It is brandable, a short domain, and it looks nice. That is steps above a lot of hte competition, but I think you're stepping over dollars to pick up pennies to use this site and not hire a professional for some guidance.

No i appreciate contructive criticisim thats y i ask. The thing is i had a different approach. My execution may be off but i do have a direction. I did a lot of keyword research believe me. What i found is an over populated market for insurace keywords. So what i did is target lesser searched keywords so i can rank faster and have an alternate method to promote the searches based on my demographic. Id rather not go into detail but your right i am an seo noob and i will keep working on my content. Keep up the sound advice

How did you do your keyword research? I think you may be pleasantly surprised by a dissenting opinion of your assumption.

Through google and google keywords i found brandable keywords for low searched phrases

How so i after i did exact match results on adwords i checked top pages and i know i can rank cause only like top 3 are insurance brokers. U offer good advice but dont be so quick to judge when u dont even fully know.

Easy champ.

The tools you mentioned aren't even showing you the right metrics to let you know what you can rank against. I disagree with this statement you made:

What i found is an over populated market for insurace keywords.

In an earlier thread you had said you wanted to get local business and local SEO vs national SEO are two different critters. If you want to rank for the term car insurance in your area, you probably could.

Would you want to rank for california insurance vs longtail terms nationally?

I have found the best keyword research is simply to find the keywords other sites are ranking for, and to steal their rankings.

Remember the amount of results shown for a given kw in google, is not an indicator of a term's competitiveness, since those a broad not exact results.

RE: Google Keyword Tool=

The results in the GKT, are not exact even when selecting "exact match". They are G's algothermic guess about how many searches there are a month for a term.

I use tools like

SemRush
Ahrefs
Scrapebox Keyword Scraper

to finds keywords then I may throw in some of the term with high searches into a Market Samurai or Traffic Travis to check out the top 10 results for...

Avg Age
Avg PR
One page SEO Factors...etc

SerpIQ is also good for this.

my bad this forum is full of trolls, i didnt mean to treat you like one .

your right at first when i was starting the terms i was targeting were all local. however, plans change. i found short term keywords that seem to have been overlooked. now you ask why would i want to target keywords nobody searches for? because they are brand-able. i am really targeting those keywords to show high rankings and not necessarily to generate inbound google traffic off the rankings (if that makes sense). in the end i have a plan to drive traffic to those keywords and associate them with my name. it may be extra work but I live in LA. there is hugeeeee amount of competition. I have to attack the beast in a different and unique way which is why I'm doing it the way I am.
