MAPD/MED SUPPS Grassroots Marketing

It amazes me how much I've spent in time and money on my FB and my website and over the last year I've gotten exactly zero leads. I post daily to my FB and add blogs to my website.
I get maybe 3-5 people a day to my site but nothing

I told you...it's that orange jump suit.

I know the website marketing works as it appears guys like Bevo and I'm sure plenty others have it nailed down and are knocking out of the park. I haven't spent much time on it yet as I'm still having luck with the direct mail.

Regarding FB, I tried it as well and got jacksh*t from it. Perhaps I need to refine my strategy if others seem to be making it work.

Oh I still do well with DM I just thought it would be nice to get a call or two a month from my website. Nope. My FB post will get shares, likes comments sometimes and it directs people to my website. I assume it's my website that has been a flop. I try to tweak it but I have no idea what else to do.

I think biz website/FB are important tools for image but are way overrated as to their new biz importance.

..... but I have no idea what else to do.

Every time, or almost everytime, I mention names, I get in trouble.
Every time I leap, and then look around on the way down, I get in trouble.

One would think I'd have learned by now. I haven't.

You know my qualifiers/caveats. Consider them stated.

What I think I would try as an initial plan were I in that situation:

I have chosen 4 Med Supp business model mentors on the site. One of them is Somarco. His model title in my mind is spmething like profit, personal referrals and website.

I have been on the site approximately 6 months. Somewhere during that time he made posts in a thread about websites-I think it was some exhanges with goillini. I would search out the thread and see what it was he said and makes notes.

I would then call up my website and his websites. I would try to understand what differences there were between mine and his, and why there were differences in his.

Then-just from casual reading, I know that wording techniques are significant issues in websites.

I would go searching on Senior Marketing Specialists website for articles and links about how to do websites.

I would then look at Glen Sheltons website and also try to find site search terms that would get me some posts here. Again looking for website techniques.

And then-while working on finding the cheapest available copy of some book or another that DHK recommended, I hit a guy whose name I think was Claude something or another. He was/is a successful sales person in a whole raft of endeavors and has written a book on small business internet marketing techniques. I would refind that book info and decide if I wanted to buy it for further guidance.

Claude Whitacre
Local online marketing
(amazon was showing me a 2013 publication date-don't know what effect that might have on the validity of its information,)

I would let success and failure in those step inform my next decisions.

I would start any Facebook venture with the idea of Retention & Referrals

Retention:
Friend your current clients or invite them to like your page (depending on your approach)
Post regularly
Use images to help get attention

Referrals:
Remind clients you can help their friends and family
Post appointments you had (tag clients with their permission)

WARNING: Shameless Self Promotion:
At Senior Marketing Specialists, we have a Facebook group for our contracted agents where we create posts for agents to use for free. https://www.facebook.com/groups/smsagentconnect/

I dont know exactly the right words for thsi--What do you see as the difference in purpose/utility/effectiveness of website vs facebook for a Med Supp agent?

As a user/consumer/person I pretty much stay as far away from facebook as I can and ignore facebook related email posts from religious or charitable organizations I have an involvement with.

Everything needs to be tracked from start to finish. Using analytics software can help you determine exactly what these people are doing when they hit your site. I would personally never use Google Analytics, I prefer Clicky. It's free for just a few websites. You can go as far as heatmaps and such, I've played with them in the past but I don't use them now.

If you're getting 3-5 people a day and zero leads, then yes it could be your website. But you could also be getting 3-5 non-buyer visitors, based on how you're generating them. I could take a look at your site if you drop the url here. I've seen some really badly designed sites (many were mine when I started out!) that still generated at least a few leads here and there, even with 5 visitors a day.

I use it so people know what I do for a living. (That's a chick issue. Don't get me started)

I also ask people to tag the business page when their friends are complaining about ACA or Medicare or whatever. The besties know to "like and share" anything the business posts.

Last year, someone on the Jewish Moms of Dallas page posted about not being able to find a PPO. One of my FP's said call Jenny, here's her number.

I've written twelve 2 person groups and counting from 1 post.

For Med Supp, I get people from church that know this is what I do and the call me.

Do you need one? Yes.

Is it free? Yes.

Do you waste more time on the forum than the 1 post a week you need to do from the FB page? Yes.

Are you going to get a lot of business from it? NO

I would agree. That's why I laugh every time the VistaPrint commercial comes on with the guy saying how great his business is because of his new business cards and print from of course...VistaPrint.

A simple, pretty, inexpensive website (online business card) is fine and necessary for someone in business if you're not going to pursue lead generation.
