you can register with the DNC.org and get 5 for free, i am guessing that is why you have been 'allowed' 5 now through salesgenie.com. it is expensive, but so is the 11k per violation fine. i can't imagine the attorney general going after a single insurance agent. but, i guess i wouldn't want to be the one to find out. they would us though, we have already made the short list.
I dont want to find out either. Just was shocked when I seen I had to pay $50 to register a area code. What a scam that is.

I ordered a list from lead concepts....1,000 names but only around 120 had phone numbers. Does that mean the others could be on the DNC list?

Sounds like you got screwed, I would send it back and tell them to give you 1,000 names with phone numbers. Isnt that what you ordered?

Seriously...if there weren't phone numbers I'd return that list ASAP.

As far as running out of Zips, just start back over. If you have over a year's worth of numbers to call, they won't remember you and people that weren't in a position to buy earlier might be now.

You have to be careful when you order lists. I use USAData, and you have to change the radio button selection from "include all names" to "only include names with phone numbers". Definitely get in touch with Lead Concepts though, you should be able to get a full list.

123 numbers to be exact! I'll call them ASAP and find out. I believe I paid $50 for the list? I was going to look up the other numbers on the internet and start calling them. Now you guys have me concerned about the DNC list.....I wasn't too concerned about it but am not up to paying a big fine.

Dont call if its not scrubbed you dont want that problem. 1,000 names will take awhile to go threw.
If you dont have a dialer look at call fire. you can load $10 bucks in and start dialing. I use the $2 per hour service. its only 1 line but if you dont have to dial it makes a huge difference, and I can pause it, put in my notes on each call and start it back up.

What i'm going to do is sort of like a dialer. I am using my iphone to cold call. I just email my excel spreadsheet with the numbers to my iphone. My iphone recognizes phone numbers automatically. I then just have to tap on the number and BAM. I believe blackberries do this also. As far as clarity, I have tested my headset with my iphone and it seems as clear as a "land-line". I thought it was a good and "cheap" idea.

As far as dialers, I think calling one per time seems like the best bet. At least for me... I am not sure about all windows operating systems, but at least vista has some sort of dialer built in. I am not sure exactly how to use it, but I know there is a way to call numbers by clicking on them...

I thought $50 per area code was a lot of money too, but then I realized I was thinking zip code. We only have 2 area codes for all of utah, 1 for nevada, and 2 for most of arizona. That's a crap load of people to call. If I have to pay another $4.16 a month to get Idaho, then that's a not a bad deal.

I am just nervous that I will eventually run out of numbers to call. Would it be a good idea to purchase lists from other companies, or would there be too many duplicates?

This is a very valid concern... For those of you who make your living cold calling consumers, at what point do you think cold calling will become obsolete (due to the DNC or other uncontrollable factors)?

And most importantly what do you have planned to replace the revenue that cold calling produces?
