This is a Picture of My Oldest Son in Baghdad in 2003 with the 101'st Airborne Division. (3rd from the Left)

It was amazing how far this country's respect of the Military has gone down the tubes and how the Major BroadCast stations get thier political view across.

I was watching "Law and Order last night, and the lead detectives kid, was thinking of enlisting in the Army.

They showed a scene with his Dad busting in the recruiters office and blowing up that his kid would never join the Army, His Kid is going to College!!! Like it was the worst thing his Kid could do??

Sad but true this is most Parents thought process today, I have a younger son that is completing his Master's Degree in IT this year, He also served in IRAQ for over a year and is now back in School. The point is this, Its bad enough to broadcast this on National Television, but on Veterans Day??

But Here is My thought Process!!

Thanks to all who have served and will in the future decide to serve. Less than 2% of Americans ever will have enough courage to wear a military uniform..The other 98% live under the Values and Freedoms that 2% provide us. Thanks to all you 2 percenters...

And another Picture of My Oldest Son, (first one on the right) in the Middle of Iraq somewhere?

This was my Sons Roomate that was killed on one of their Many Patrols.
(above picture standing in front)

And this is My Oldest Son now, with My Grandaughter!! War Aged that Young Man tremendously. But he loves his country, He is still in today, SSG/E-6 assigned to the Recruiting Command. It just gives me Chills to look at him in his Dress Uniform and truly understand what all those Medals represent.

I joined the Army at Age 17, Main Reason, The upcoming Birth of this Young Man. The Army gave me structure and concrete Values, and helped me raise my Family without asking for a Hand Out. I will never regret spending 21 Long Years Serving My Country, Never!

How could you possibly look at these Two and not say to yourself, It was all Worth It, every Single last Minute. :)

I've noticed that the left-wing bias on most network shows has almost grown unbearable. I actually had to turn off last week's "Bones" because I was tired of being preached to about how inhumane (cue the irony) meat processing plants are.

You should be proud of your son, not to mention with all of the education programs around and in the military it will be some of the best four years of his life without getting in the way of school.

Amazing Dave! I caught all kinds of flack when I enlisted at 17 - delayed entry program and my parents had to sign.

Single BEST move I ever made. Period. Job opportunities are fantastic once you're out.

Awesome - simply awesome!

Thank you for sharing, and thanks to you and your son for your service!

Law & Order is still one of my favs but they have veered far to the left in recent years. C'est la vie.

First of all, you should have posted this thread in the non-insurance section. But since it is here... I'll comment here.

I think it is disgusting that you trot out exploitative pix of your son and your granddaughter to try to get the rest of this venue to buy into your "hoo-rah" concept that if we just send more kids to the grinder that we can win these wars.

Of course you have a willing audience of neo-cons here who don't understand the concept of "We can't win" any more now than in my day in Vietnam.

So Dave, if you are willing to sacrifice your son to the grinder, how many sons and daughters of others are you willing to send and see come home in a box? A thousand? Or is this a 20,000 dead "loss?" Maybe these wars are worth 50,000? Hey, why skimp... why not go up to 100,000. How big a wall on the Mall do you want to build THIS time?

As for all you "hoo-rah" neo-cons here, why don't any of you join up? Most of you are young enough to be in the guard and go over there... if not in a direct combat role, than in some kind of support position. Why not volunteer?

For those who are older, how many have sat down with their kids and said "I think it is best you join the Army and go to Iraq and Afg? And if you get killed, well it will be a tragedy... but these wars are important to the defense of our liberty, freedom, and the American Way." You won't do that. Let the other guy's kid be killed over there... not yours.

It's just like it was in Vietnam. Anyone who goes over there has made the wrong decision. History has proven that. It will again.

No one is anti-military, we are anti-these-wars. Our military has not been able to win in 8 years and 5,000 dead. Get a clue.

If you are willing to to see you son killed or wounded for Iraq or Afg I ask who is making the bad decision?

How many dead soldiers do you have to see until you are happy that we've lost and it's time to wrap it up until the next one?

You started this thread, not me. You've got some 10,000 neo-cowards here who will gladly send their neighbor's kids or husbands/wives to the grinder... but not them or their own.

The hypocrisy of you people here never ceases to amaze me.

I hope your kid gets back home safe and in one piece. But if he doesn't, I wonder how much of it is on your head?

Like I said, you started this thread with the "exploitation" pictures. Can you take the heat from me without going postal? I doubt it... but go ahead. I've had my say. I won't comment again. So hit me with your best obscene shot. It's what you and the rest of your neo-con buddies do best.

Dmiller90 - Thank you for your service and your sons service to this country.

Al3 - I want to ignore your post, but you are entitled to your opion by the very same people you bash.

Very cool post. I totally agree with everything you said. Our country didn't use to be that way. It's kind of scary when you see what things have come to. I remember when it was considered an honor to serve.

Jacqueline's son is on leave and will be here for the next week and a half and then is going to be deployed. We couldn't be more proud.

What Law and Order did is unconscionable.

Which one is your son. They all appear to be too good looking to be yours. He must take after your wife. haha

Thanks for sharing.
