Need Advice

Because of economic hardship, I have decided to take a job offer that will start next month with one of the big insurance companies. This will provide my family with the benefits that we need and me with the right training and support.

My question is the following: How do I tell my previous book of business that I acquired when working for a brokerage firm that I can no longer assist them?.

I am still receiving notifications on their policies, and I feel that the right and ethical thing to do would be to advise them on what is going to happen to their policy. Do I need to ask them to look for a new agent? How does that work?

Thanks for your enlightenment!,

Does the company that you used to work for have a non-compete? Mine for example won't let me solicit my current clients for 2 years if I were to leave.

All the reps I know that have left called their best clients before they ever left and told them they were going "x" and they should contact them if they needed anything. Alot of times you can get around just about anything if the client calls YOU.

Be very careful about this...I specifically asked my lawyer and he informed me that my state loves to hammer people for this tactic, and yes I asked how the client can be bound by a contract they are not a party to and he just informed me it didn't matter if my future ex-employer desides to sue my state will gladly give them more than a pound of my flesh...
