Well, this woman is not one I'm going to divorce. Now, not to hi-jack the thread and make it all about me, but the OP asked for advice.
Now, one thing to consider is the cost of gas is now wayyyy higher than it was in 2006. One other thing to consider: in my other business I spent massive amounts of hours , sometimes going 600 miles a day, 100,000 miles a year, my health wasn't the greatest, I started getting sleep apnea, started falling asleep at the wheel.
And I wasn't using $40,000 vehicles, either, more like $5000 used minivans at the time.
One thing also to consider is this: I know there have been threads on here lately about making six figures in FE and how you must spend money to make money and all that jazz.
Keep in mind, in the scenario above, I only need to replace $2000 a month, not $7000, with the insurance commissions. {after expenses, which I intend on keeping low}
Lots of talk around here lately how a person could spend $25,000 on leads and make $100,000 a year. Now, I know it can be done. But do I want to expend the money and effort in hopes of doing it. I know my limitations, I know what I can do. But DO YOU know what you can do, what you can expend, and what you can make? That's the question. How much of your personal life, your health, your wealth, your time, do you wish to expend, and to what end? That's the deal, right there.

You said "Knocking the doors might be free but you waste a lot of time."
So if somebody doesn't have any direct mail leads to call and doesn't like or give good phone, door knocking is a waste of time for them? I don't think any activity is a waste of time. There might be better uses of time but that is all dependent of personal situations. Door knocking is a perfect use of time for some.
And whats wrong with wasting some time anyway? We waste time of this forum.
