New Agent at BLC Any Tips?

I am curious as to how many agents on this forum started with BLC and how long they stayed with BLC?
 
I learned some great things with 2 years at bankers. cltc, lutcf paid for by company.

The CLTC is a 2 day course. Not knocking it, but I don't see it as helping much. I have never had a senior ask or know anything about it.

Do you know if Bankers pays for it currently?

I don't think they do. Possibly a discount or somethling like that. It costs over a thousand dollars and no way Bankers will invest that money in a new agent, IMO.

The bonus program made up for. Not getting 100 percent comp.

Most agents rarely hit a significant bonus, especially new agents. The bonus increases the more you make. Where it really makes sense is at the top levels, IMO.

To the people bashing it, name any captive company and you can google for shady agents.

Most people are talking about company practices, what was being taught to the agents. I think someone googled already and that "worry box" training video came up. I don't know if other companies train like that.

Reserve National and United American, a tie for second.
NASE/Mega Life selling individual insurance, fined $20mil. by the NAIC for teaching deceptive practices. I actually have a ding in my insurance compliance record for recording those presentations as a consumer, the state of AR. didn't appreciate me doing "unauthorized investigations".

They give a discount, cant remember how much it was, but it was a pretty decent discount. But They dont offer that until your 2nd year

Bonus = 5% ($250) if APC = 5,000
7% ($560) if APC = $8,000
11% ($1,210) if APC = $11,000
17% ($2,380) if APC = $14,000
25% (4,250) if APC = $17,000
35% (7,000) if APC = $20,000
45%($10,350) if APC = $23,000
55% ($14,300) if APC = $26,000
65% ($18,850) if APC = $29,000
75% ($24,000) if APC = $32,000
85% ($29,750) if APC = $35,000
95% ($30,000) if APC = $38,000

1 APC = $1 in commission
these are Quarterly bonus rates for new agents. Senior agents bonus structure has the bar set a little higher.
Good agent in my office would get the 11% bonus. But the average when I was there was 5% or 0%.
The max you can get was also 95%. There were one or two agents that would get that almost every quarter.

Evidentally because you are first a licensed agent in their sight and a consumer second? :err:

By the second year they should have made quite a bit off of the agent. I certianly wouldn't join for this reason.

The commission was 50 to 75% less than what an independant agent gets on similar products. If you are the majority, you are giving up a lot.
