New to Insurance and this forum

Most policies are used due to accidents. So, if you add the AIG ded. rider for up to whatever you ded. is set at, you would only pay $100 oop then after that the Assurant 1 ded. plan covers 100% no if, ands, or buts.
While I'm sure you are 100% ethical, you are also 100% wrong.

Think about it logically. Major Medical for even a 17 year old male is still about $75-100 per month for $5 million in coverage. $5,000 of accident coveage is about $25.

Now make it a 45 year old smoker. Price is maybe $250-400 per month. The accident plan is still $25.

You do the math.

By the way, if you agree with my assessment but continue to promote insurance this way, would you be maybe 80% ethical?

Ethical Agent my prediction is you will feel differently in a few months. Why do I say that? Because I have been lead down the primrose path by at least three different outfits. They all told me great things but then the reality became obvious to me after I was there a while. One of the biggest mistakes that newbies make in the insurance business is to not do due diligence and figure out where they want to be in this business and where offers the best chance to reach that. IO think it is a mistake to totally discount input from people who have no reason to not want you to succeed and who do not profit from what you do or don't do.
Im sorry if I came off wrong.... i apoligize whole heartedly. I'm listening loud and clear now.

If the premiums in Florida are anywhere near the premiums in Texas, you will starve to death trying to sell Assurant.
Get off the Kool aid and use common sense. People do not care if you have the best coverage in the world if they cannot afford it. I like to sell Assurant as well, but as the price is around 90% higher than ANY other company in Texas, I simply don't sell it.
Just keep in mind that your "Trainer" makes his living from your production, so he has a vested interest in pushing Assurant if that is all he has to sell.
You have had a lot of very good advice from this thread, and you would be well advised to take it, and act on it.
so, should I continue to work for this agency??? i'm new and very confused now.

What type of place should someone like me start to get experience at??? Should I continue until I see the light for myself? I want to be successful in this industry and LOVE going to work everyday. You all got me wondering now.

Independent Health Insurance Agent Association

Simple as that. Had I started there to begin with (or had something like this been around), I would have been way ahead of the game. This association will teach you how to be in business for yourself in this industry. They teach you where to start, how to get contracts, how to prospect, generate leads, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. I highly suggest this association. It is run by Health Agent, who has already commented on your situation. I have absolutely nothing to gain by recommending this association. I'm just a member who is happy with what is offered!

If you have questions, feel free to ask me, or better yet, send Health Agent (John Petrowski) an email at the email on that site.

One thing you could do . . .

Stay with these folks for a few months and learn the business (but do it the right way, not by drinking the Kool Aid).

You should have a feel for it in 90 days or less. Once you are ready to leave the nest, you have your intense (BS) training and a little bit of experience. If they lock up your contract with Time for 6 months or so, no big deal. They aren't competitive any way.

So you get appointed with, and write with other carriers after leaving the nest.
