That's true. 2 of favorite baits (for catfish) are:
1) chicken liver after letting it sit outside overnight on a hot summer night.
2) shrimp after letting it sit outside for a few days.

Chicken liver is actually my favorite catfish bait, it sucks trying to keep it on the hook though. Bluegill cut in half works good too.

Bluegill and Perch are pretty good in the morning mixed with some eggs and of course a bit of sand. But can not match Trout and eggs next to a mountain stream.
