Newsletter to Clients?

a broadcast email to everyone with a clickable link like he did in the post is probably how he does it. I have tried making the newsletter part of the email, but I have had issues with it and am looking for a better way to do it when I have time.

I used to put a link to each newsletter on my homepage, but right now I am too busy to edit it, ect. I used to use financial visions as my website server, but I got tired of the expense. With them it was just a link that went to my newsletter.

I do send an email out to my clients and have figured out that if I upload it as a hidden page on the website (and make it live) I can then save it as a template and email the page as an html format. It will then look in the email like it does online.

I am in no way even a novice at this internet / website stuff. I just get intensely involved in trying to figure it out until I can somehow (McGyver) get it to work.

I don't link the newsletter from the main page because the site is just way too large to begin with. (no secret handshake).

You know once you think that it works ok, you go back and a picture is missing or a line graphic is now a square with a red x in it. Who knows.............

Although the email version of our newsletter is shorter than the mail version, I think I will start saving the full mailed newsletter to PDF and put a link on the email version to the full version on my site.

This will possibly get people to visit my site to see the full version and will also operate as an archive for people to read older newsletters.

A book I read recently on newsletter marketing recommended making newsletters a personal thing. I think I mentioned this before, but having one article each time devoted to yourself and family gets people to feel that they know you and that you can be trusted. I need to start doing this myself because I agree with the idea 100%. Pictures of the family and news really adds a personal touch. It also takes the edge off the boring financial stuff.

I was afraid someone would ask.

I'll have to go back and figure out which one it was. Looking at my Amazon recent purchases, it could be:

Storyselling for Financial Advisors : How Top Producers Sell

22 Keys to Sales Success: How to Make It Big in Financial Services

Selling Sucks: How to Stop Selling and Start Getting Prospects to Buy!

Attract Clients: A Financial Advisor's Guide to Building and Running A Practice

But it could also have been an article in Senior Advisor Magazine or one of the tip emails I get from FMOs and others.

Inquiring minds . . .

Here is one I turned up on Amazon. Don't know anything about it other than 1 terrific review.

Probably written by the author's mom . . .

Isn't that how everyone get's raving testimonials?

But enough about my mom . . .

What do you do to get folks to open your newsletter & pass it on? A friend of mine (retirement planner) does a monthly drawing for a financial info book. I have thought of something similar. Like a lot of things, just haven't done it yet.

$178.24!!?? Holy mackerel?

This is probably like a book I once had for sale on Amazon ($14.95). When it went out of print, Amazon put a huge price tag on it for some reason.

The article on newsletters I was referring to was just a small part of a financial marketing piece aimed at insurance/investment people.

Newsletters are a great way to keep in front of your clients. It doesn't even have to be all insurance related just good contact to build the KLT Factor (know-like-trust factor).

I use aweber.com and as an autoresponder for all clients that respond to emails. They have an awesome system that I can do the newsletters in advance and set up to send out whenever I want.

You can also do broadcasts for a something that might come up spur of the moment.

On the backend, I do quarterly newsletters as a mailer to keep up with those that don't do email.

Personally, the email follow up systems with good content has help me develop a relationship with my clients, has lead to referrals and additional business.

Best of luck with whatever you chose!

We've used an email newsletter as well as a hard copy format and both at the same time. We get best results with the hard copy.

Best,

While email marketing is all the rage now, I honestly believe print will see a resurgence. At a minimum with a print newsletter, people are going to at least see your logo/photo, etc. when taking it out of the mail.
