Old American Insurance Company FE

It says 'SUPPLEMENT Your Gov't Benefit of $255' and then later clearly states Life Insurance! I had about 3-5% think it was some free govt benefit!

The 1 I use now says '2012 Benefit Info for Calif Residents' then goes into state regulated programs for Final Expenses!!

Ahh yes! The leads you use are much better than the SS Benefit lead...

Thanks to the ones that provided info on Old American. It is funny how threads can change direction and take on a life of their own but the lead discussion has been interesting and informative..( since I am thinking of doing my first mail drop since 20 years ago) That is one of the things that makes the forum interesting and fun is you never know the direction a thread will take... unless it is about LH recruiters and JD..

Any information on Old American Insurance Company? I just received a ltter invited me to apply as a "Career building General Agent".. I assume that means captive. They say they are a part of KC life and have been dedicated to the FE market since 1939. Have in house lead system.

Don't find them on FEXquotes.. rates competitive?

I don't know about their underwriting but they are extremely high priced. Even higher than LH and Bankers. I love finding OA policies even moreso than LH or Physicians Mutual. In fact they are probably more in the price range of PM.

I haven't run into s ingle one where I could not replace it because of health issues so my experience is that they are no more liberal on underwriting than the companies I carry.

I have to AmCon a few times so that does mean they wouldn't fly with RNA or Americo.

There is a new agent posting from Idaho that used to be an OA agent. maybe he can chime in?

Why? Even JD said it is the best responding mailer out there.

Both he and Reardon have done their own mailers that beat the drum about life insurance. Sure, they had some of the best qualified prospects ever, but they got very few responses. I believe they either lost money or barely broke even on them.

Yep. I hate them too but there is reason every mailhouse and every FE IMO uses it. It's tried and true. You can try and reinvent the wheel and many have. The $255 SS mailer is the FE wheel.

I don't understand the response to that card. I sure wouldn't send it in but I am not the FE demographic.

I got the same mailer, Rouse.

As far as the mail pieces go...

"If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It."

My little piece profited, but not nearly as well as the standard fare works.

I think I could tweak it and improve it to make it workable.

Persistency has been 100% off that card as of 9 months of all the business I placed.

But I'm still with doing what I know works.

Good thing our Demographic isnt you, or we'd all be BROKE!! :D

This thread has gotten off track! I think the point was made to forget about Old American though!:D

I didn't read the entire thread, but I will tell you OA is one of the highest priced carriers out there. Easily replaced even if the policies are several years old. I'm surprised they are still in business, but Lincoln Heritage still finds suckers out there and keeps going so what would stop Old American...

Confessions of a former OA agent. The company was very good to me. Great agent services. Great customer service for your policy holders. They view you as the customer as well as the policy owners. Loyal to the agent and to the agent manager. Territory specific. You CANNOT write business outside of your agent managers territory. Rates were high. I had a lot of policies replaced. I suspect I met JDeasy vicariously through replacement forms.....LOL,,,
Good luck.
