Organic SEO vs higher closing % on bought leads

I've had a train of thought that I'm a bit stumped on and wonder what your opinions are on the matter.

That is, the amount of effort and focus required to see good results from self created website building, social media campaigns, etc, VS using that amount of effort and focus to being able to close a higher and higher % of bought leads.

Get involved in the rat race competition for web rankings and media limelight, or leave that to the "marketers" and buckle down and be a real closing "shark" on their leads

Obviously you could say do both, but I'm thinking that would be a sort of stretch of the mind, like being mediocre at multiple things vs being the best at one thing

Thoughts?

So building and maintaining a website is a huge effort.

It is also extremely lucrative.

Placing 25-30% of your leads is not abnormal if you have a niche insurance site.

I do not want to sell. I want to educate and take orders

Others want to sell (just buying all of the leads they can) That strategy can also be very lucrative.

I think that it's a personal decision over everything else.

Call me lazy, but I'd rather do the second strategy ha

Tahoe Ray and I are of the same belief. If you have a specific website that you curate and maintain your closing ratios will likley be higher with those leads than purchased leads.

In the beginning if you are able to do both - that might be the best bet. Work on one during the day to pay for the other.

Guys, how can I increase organic monthly traffic? As far as I understand, only SEO services will help me in this? I read a lot of information about this on the Internet and I think SEO is the best way to increase traffic on a website. I've already found the SEO specialist https://www.danielfoley.co.uk/ which might help me. I have already consulted with him and we have drawn up my personal plan of action for the best result. I would be interested to know what methods you used to achieve organic growth on your website?

I'm with Ray. I don't want to do sales. I want to educate, grab the low hanging fruit. Do other stuff.

My close ratio is about 40%. I quantify my leads as someone who can and should buy. With full retirement age going to 66.4 a certain subset of people shouldn't buy what I'm selling, yet.

I ask for an email and send a monthly newsletter until they're ready.

Just to but things into perspective (and not sway you, per se)

Educational content produces 3x the leads at 66% less cost. It's an asset that keeps producing over time.

That being said, I mix market, as part of my marketing plan. I also do a small letter awareness campaign to get people into my funnel.

It might be years until they close.. but I have time.

Starting out you definitely have to develop leads for now. However, eventually you should be able to reduce your buy with referrals, incoming calls, etc.

For context, Travis is speaking specifically about local SEO which is radically different than national SEO. For Travis, he is trying to rank for terms like "medicare in [state/city]" close to him. For stuff like that, you, just like him, can rank at the top of the local map pack which will almost certainly display above the national search results. All you need to do is follow local seo best practices and focus on getting reviews in Google. Google actually wants to serve users businesses that are local to searcher because that provides a better user experience compared to just showing them national results.

But you have understand that local seo search volume is incredibly low. You're never going to make six figures by relying on local seo. I don't know about local Medicare search volume because I only do life. That said, I highly doubt anyone could make even 30k per year from Medicare sales strictly from local seo traffic. On the life side, you couldn't even make 10k per year from local seo traffic.

For anyone interested in ranking a website on a national level, don't bother. With the way Google works now, it's not an endeavor that you can succeed at in ANY relative period of time.
