Managing an adword campaign is tricky. The more targeted your efforts the better results you will receive.

If my budget is a little tight I personally choose less popular keywords on purpose.
the rate per click is lower and the conversion rate are much higher.

Very popular keywords are typically clicked on a lot by the same consumer etc...

It becomes more unllikely that you get duplicate leads or vendors clicking on your ad if it is very specific. exmple " final expense quote" over "Final Expense"
that extra word makes a huge difference.

Also know your demographics keep the areas you selected limited as possible to high value areas that historically have been productive for you. High value communities Etc...
