Prospecting/Hitting Doors:People that Say to You "can You Come Back" or "when Are You Going to Be Ba

All the responses have assumed you are calling on leads. If you are that is fine. But if you are cold calling/canvasing, then you should be willing to set an appointment. After all, the initial call is the equivalent to their receiving a DM piece.

This is a good point,if the situation I described in the original post has occurred and theres a chance for a solid deal if you do go back.

I'm trying to learn quick rebuttal on the "can you come back" part of the question I'm asking.

I like JD's post. That's something I use. I'm not into time waster's either.

I also like to reverse it on them and tel them "if you are not ready, you're not ready".

I also point to my truck and tell them how much gas I burn. Since I work rural areas,my kinda people relate since they do lots of driving, use full size trucks with big V-8's too.

When I have one that I know is giving me some BS,I hand them my card and tell them to drive to my office, which is often 50-100 miles away from where I'm working. I tell em I'll have a pot of hot coffee, sanwiches, when they arrive and we can do business there.

Lol !

Here's what I do and I think I do work leads to death. Beyond death too much of the time.

Talk your way in now if possible. Same stuff everyone has been saying, takes 5-minutes, give you the short version, I'm sure you just want a quick rate quote, etc.

If that fails- set a solid appointment. Exact time and day. If they won't do that they are a yanker and you pitch the lead.

I told one on Thursday that I would be sending them a bill for $75 for not canceling within 24 hours.

Just for the record, that didn't work out well. ;)

So what you are saying is you gave them the "wave" and they gave you the "bird":D

It was my 4th no show of the day. I won't bore you with the details, but it ended with me being chased by an ugly redneck in a white truck...

Maybe next time you may not want to share the fact that you think his ugly with him. :)

I agree.. If you are just walking up to a person's house out of the blue without having an appointment, there could many very good reasons why they might not want to let you in to talk with them at that time. If they don't want to take time to meet with you then at that time, set an appointment.

If you have an appointment and they want to put you off, then that is different.
