Say Goodbye To Existing Non-Grandfathered Policies?

I think they are getting desperate for people to continue to place new business. I know that I haven't bothered with working at individual since the law was passed & my renewals were cut in half in 2011. Since then, if you want individual coverage, I'll give it to you - but I can't afford to market it or go out of my way to place the business. I made an effort since then to have all new business I placed be in the Medicare market or in other lines if possible since 1/1/2011. . . .

im right there with you bruthr... u call me, I sell ya... u hop on my website, I sell ya again...

I aint done squat on marketing my website since end of 2010... why would I? when this thing goes we are gonna have to strip our site of any content that is not compliant..... articles I wrote back in 2008 or so gotta come down and the last ting I am going to do now is post a bunch of negative articles about the ACA for my mommie HHS lady to see.

Policies written by any carrier in 2013 for a 2013 effective date have a 12 month shelf life.

I consider this carrier email a non-announcement.

Doesn't matter what your opinion is, or mine.

All that really matters is HHS and AFAIK they have kept silent on this. Some carriers are moving forward on the assumption they do not have to terminate 2013 plans until anniversary.

So, maybe you're onto something Stuy119. Perhaps they all just want it to implode, with the govt thinking it's a step to single payer and the private market thinking it's a step to proving that you must bring down the true drivers of increasing health costs.

Either way, 12/31/2013 is a cliff for millions of people.

I have never read an official government statement that says so, but don't most of us think the administration wants and is working toward a single payer system?

no, your are correct and that's why when the colored company let it out they were terming plans with a post 3/20/10 effective date I felt I had enough "facts" to dispute your comment

You're right, brother Peeler. The Colored Company is definitely up to something. See my post in the "Carrier Strategy" thread.

I'm not sure they even know which companies will be participating in the exchanges. How would these exchanges, that possibly won't even be ready take in this flood of existing business on top of the newer, expanded, income subsidized business? Am I missing something?

In Iowa, our BC/BS is officially "undecided" if they will even participate....WellMark has something like 90+% of the market and they have been rumored to be unofficially staying out of the exchange....This could be huge for many of the smaller plans.

Seems several carriers have indicated they will boycott HIX. Could get very interesting as we approach 2014
