Set up for Telephone Sales

OK, I have a headset that I bought several years ago but it plugs into my computer..(not USB) Can't use it with my cell phone.. My home phone is a Verizon Home Phone..
1. You can buy a bluetooth for your cell phone, if that is the phone you prefer using.
2. As others have suggested, buy a headset compatible with your home phone, if it does not have speaker features.
3. If you prefer VOIP, buy a compatible headset.

I just signed up for a trial of DialPad. However, my old head set will not connect to my computer.. It is one that has separate plugs for headphones and mic.

For what it's worth, I have been 99% telesales for FE products; and, I have used my cell phone's speaker feature and/or blue tooth on 100% of those occasions. It really is not as difficult to do on your cell phone as you think. The only problem that I occasionally encounter is calling on a lead when I'm in a bad service area.

What kind of leads are you using for your FE telesales?

Louis, I am not as techy as some of the others and still have a landline (dedicated to my office) with caller ID.

Have this phone with handsets strategically around the house
Amazon product ASIN B01HXMJ14S
And this headset. You can also get binaural as @WinoBlues suggested.

Wired headsets + portable phone works better in my house vs wireless headset and it's a lot less expensive.

I have a 2 story house so two base stations and two headsets. No connectivity problems.

I rarely use the speaker to talk with clients or prospects. Headset is clearer. Also don't use VOIP or Skype. When I tried them in the past the sound was "tinny" and noisy. A good connection and sound is necessary when dealing with seniors.

Also don't do screen sharing or 3-way calling. My CRM is all Google . . Drive (for proposals and PDF of apps), Gmail, Google Sheets and Google contacts.

I tried CRM's in the past but making double entry was time consuming. Google stores all my emails and I have tracking (Bananatag). Emails are also annotated to my contact list.

Simple for me and zero cost.

Also have a headset for my cell phone which I will use when I traveled in the past.

I do have a Google voice number which I rarely use, Hangouts (which has been deprecated) and "replaced" by Duo which I have yet to use.

Duo does have the ability to make video calls but that is not a feature I have used.

You don't want to go cheap on headsets but no need to pay a lot either. I tried different brands before settling on the Wantek. Good quality sound. Durable until my dog finds it and thinks it is a toy.

Good luck.

Did you say DON'T do 3-way calls? How do you handle the POS interview for a phone app like LBL uses without adding the interviewer to the call?

SNL and Columbian also needs a three way call. You can get away with not making a 3 way call with SNL and let them call the client back for the voice signature but I would think you have the potential of losing business that way..

Get a wireless headset, Louis. I can't imagine using wired anymore since clarity is almost equal at this point. Plus, you can walk around while you talk! I can walk more than 50 feet from my computer with no issues.

Also don't use VOIP or Skype. When I tried them in the past the sound was "tinny" and noisy.
I'd willing to bet that my VOIP is just as clear as a landline. Plus I have an app (Krisp) that removes all background noise as well. Having slow internet or a crappy headset would be the only hurdles there.

My thought is just the opposite, but for the same reasons. If I am working from my home, with the exception of standing up and moving around to get emotionally involved, I don't want to walk too far from my desktop computer. Reason being, I prefer to be focused and seated while talking to prospects, especially because I expect to take notes. Secondly, when it comes time to transfer those important notes to the application, I'm already at my desktop. I don't want to be running back to my desktop, like I do now with my cell phone, when the client gives me buying signals. For those reasons, a wired headset would be perfect for me. The only exception to being near my desktop, is when I'm taking a long road trip and desire calling some leads while driving. By the way, is there any such thing as interchangeable headsets?

I also prefer landlines because it's not a matter of "if" your internet will cause communication problems, it's a matter of "when". More often than not, I can tell when someone is talking to me from VOIP system. Either the conversation is delayed, causing both parties to speak at the same time and interrupting one another; there is an echo; or, I can't understand them because the call keeps breaking up in the middle of their sentence. For me, I prefer to eliminate as much noise as possible, which is anything that can potential disrupt what would otherwise be effective communication. When it comes to selling FE, we already know going into the call that the prospect is going to look for the smallest excuse to continue procrastinating. I don't want something that I can control to be one of their excuses.

Just another perspective.
