Should you still say "Obamacare"?

Obama embraced the term Obamacare. I don’t see that as offensive at all. He considered it his greatest achievement.

Bush should have named Medicare Advantage plans as BushCare. Would have made people remember one of his greatest achievements.

Donald has done nothing good for healthcare other than reduce some of the regulation. Maybe in his 2nd term he can get something going. But he doesn’t seem to have any real interest or focus on it.
What's he gonna do? Upend millions of peoples' coverage in the middle of a pandemic, with an election coming up, to boot?:nah:
Our local news is already spinning this very issue against Trump.

Why would he upend it? I’m talking about he should fix it. Make it better. Not worse.

Well according to the news spin, Trump is attempting to cancel Obamacare. Thereby stripping coverage from 20 million Americans. Is this true? Is anyone even interested in the truth at this point?
That's why he won't touch it, he's learned it's a no win situation. Republicans need to get over Obamacare as their hearts obviously ain't in it.

Obamacare was and is a mess. They didn’t even approach it from the right direction. It should be replaced. The problem is...hospitals are expensive. Doctors are expensive. Medicine is expensive. But everyone wants to “feel” like healthcare is free. Healthcare isn’t ever going to be free. It’s expensive.

If they want to fix it they need to get people (not politicians) who understand the problems to brainstorm the various solutions and work toward a common goal. They need to get it away from being tied to employers in any way. They need to make ALL plans available to everyone. They need to decide if we are going to involve the free market (insurance companies and agents) or if we are going to use a government agency such as (real) Medicare. And they are just going to have to let everyone except the poorest of the poor know, it costs a lot of money. It’s not going to be free. There needs to be a safety net for the truly impoverished of course. And they need to imprison people they catch frauding the system. They are stealing from all of us.

No one will be happy with the real solution. It’s expensive. And unhappy voters don’t vote for the guy who fixes healthcare funding. They will want to shoot the messenger. And that’s why it never gets fixed.

I didn't ask how to fix it, or who is to blame. Hundreds of threads on that topic already.

Do you think you will still use the term "obamacare" in the near future if referencing it?

Or will it become another unacceptable racially referenced term?

I think it will be a topic on CNN soon

Not to mention that everyone that is involved in fixing our health care have a better plan of their own separate from ours... sorta like "separate but equal"... yeah right!

Goose and gander... except we now we don't know which is which...

We can thank John McCain for that. Even though he campaigned on it multiple times, when push came to shove, he gave it the old thumbs down in 2017 and ended any chance of healthcare reform. Republicans were not going to bring it up again in 2018 due to midterm elections (and NeverTrump resistance) and then they lost control of the House effectively ending any Trump initiatives across the board. We have had 18 straight months of obstruction and wild goose chases related to Russia and Ukraine rather than legislation to benefit Americans.

If Republicans somehow keep the WH and Senate and take back the House, I expect we will see an effort in 2021 to fix Obamacare. If Republicans lose the Senate and WH we can expect Medicare for all in 2021.
