Site Upgrade & Facelift Coming Up This Weekend! (Sunday, October 8th)

Shouldn't the New Posts button on top-left side serve that same purpose ?

Not for the way I use the forum:
1. I look at only 3-4 forums consistently
2. I go into that forum, all recent threads at the top.
3. Click on thread, I see the most recent post at the top.

I don't care to have to scroll and find "new posts" on existing threads in different forums, that I have no interest in. If there is a way that I could exclude all the forums I don't care for, then it would solve that problem. Not bitching, just feedback. I'll get over it.

That's pretty much what I do - I check on a few sub-forums to see about new posts and that's about it. The new posts function is just noise to me, unless I can "subscribe" to particular forums on it, but even then it's not useful for me. Just another "notification" to clear.

Building on what Yagents and DHK said, the old forum allowed me to look in CP and find threads I was following. That function does not appear to be here and I don't think it is the same as Watched Threads or Watched Forum.

Like both of them, there are a few forums I read regularly, such as the Senior section. Occasionally wander over to FE for entertainment value but spend most of my time in the Senior section.

Old format allowed me to see a particular forum and the most 3 recent posts.

If the new format has the same I am not seeing it. DHK's "noise" comment nails it.

Hi Bob,
What @Yagents mentioned was vBulletin's Hybrid mode or Threaded mode. Those two features are not available with Xenforo.

For last 3 threads for each forum on homepage, I am researching, however I don't see a difference between subscribed forums/threads (in vB) vs. watched forums/threads (in XF)

As for quick referencing to favorite posts, the bookmark feature is something we didn't have on vBulletin and I believe it is a handy tool

Im a fan of the "recent posts" and "recent threads" feature.

I usually follow certain sections and certain threads like others. But I still would browse the recent post list on the old version. It would allow me to find interesting threads that I normally would not find. It also would allow me to see which active threads have recent activity on them.

If I remember correctly, many other members liked it too. When the forum did a redesign years ago, it was taken away and people complained about it. So Sam put it back. I actually never used the feature before that time. But after finding it I used it anytime I visited the forum.

So I like the recent post feature in the sidebar. And I have to admit, I always wished that feature was available on the App. So the mobile version is an upgrade when it comes to that feature.

I do wish it would show the "recent posts" first instead of "recent threads" first.
And on mobile version, having it in a drop-down at the top of page would be nice, instead of having to scroll all the way to the bottom to see it. (at least on the main page)

-------------

The "reply to thread" button that was just put at the top of threads is extremely large and obtrusive on the mobile version. It just looks out of place imo and clutters it up. (Im also not following the logic of placing it there when the most recent post is on the bottom of the page. But whatever)

Not sure if you can make it smaller just on the mobile version or not.

---------

Ive got the popup that was mentioned a few times on the desktop version even when signed in. I think it was always on the homepage.

Thanks Val.

Still exploring this new format. Vbulletin would automatically "subscribe" me to threads where I had posted. Apparently this platform does not. I just figured it wasn't functioning properly.

Never occurre to me it would be my fault for assuming . . .
