So I hear Cigna is going to

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

many health agents are still ignoring Health Care Reform, hoping it will go away or get repealed. I am here to tell you, Health Care Reform IS NOT GOING AWAY!

Yes it is, because the law is unconstitutional.

Just watch.

And wait..

No... not sending sick children to Cigna is just what they want.

I say we send all of the sickest, bed ridden children to Cigna to get their surgeries and kidney transplants. Lets send Cigna to the ground.. TO THE GROUND I SAY!! WHo is with me?

Re: And Now the Commission Reductions Begin

I'm waiting for other companies to follow suit. Then the phone calls to leads will be "Oh, your son is bipolar? Sorry, I don't get paid on those cases. Have a nice day though." Agents will be hanging up on prospects instead of the other way around...

:twitchy:Thanks for some comic relief! But this has to be a nightmare - please wake me up!

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

What Cigna is doing is this... they found that no other insurance companies were able to fit profitability into offering GI coverage to children, so most of them are refusing to sell it whatsoever. This means there will be a shortage of providers offering children's coverage, so Cigna is taking advantage of this by offering GI coverage for children while removing agents comissions so they get an influx of profitable business. If Cigna is the only company around offering GI coverage for kids, they know everyone will hear about it through word of mouth and they will get all the business anyway without brokers. Plus, they will get business from agents who insure the rest of the family elsewhere for profit and help them enroll their GI kid as a courtesy to the customer. I would be concerned about unethical agents though who will unbundle family plans to prevent losing the entire commission, even though it will be in the negative interest of the customer. These types of scenarios always tempt agents to bring out the worst of themselves....

So, Cigna will get a foothold on the business and reap large profits by stealing that extra 10-20%. Bastard whores

What do you guys think, sound plausible?

JMilber, the CIGNA child GI policies will not be profitable. They will only be purchased by parents of children who are uninsurable on the open market. Even if these unfortunate children have GI polices costing $500 a month in premium, CIGNA will still lose money, because most of them have prescription costs alone that are more than $500.

Also, I've read in the Health Insurance section of this forum that Blue Cross will have a non-commissionable GI child policy ready for September 23. So, it won't be only CIGNA who has one. -AC

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

I would not be surprised to see other carriers follow suit. Since they didn't have the balls to fight Obamacrap when it was going through Congress, they are dealing with it after the fact.

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

my take is it is "red lining"..and cherry picking, by taking the commission away agents wil not sell them. but they are pretend they want them,,,,but in reality, they are chasing the business away! they will have a few people answering the phone to take orders. but they would need hundreds if not thousands of new customer service reps. to replace the agents not writing new business . i like the idea of giving them only the real bad cases....lets go to all the children hospitals as "volunteer" and write cigna for all those unfortunate children...in fact lets start a volunteer agent group for children in need.....if we are going to work for nothing.....lets turn a negitive into something positive.. do they write in nj/pa...if they do i will contract with them and do that myself......

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

B61Mack, I agree with your strategy 100%. We can identify the few financially strong carriers who have GI child-only policies and seek out families that would benefit from these new plans. We won't get paid for writing the GI plan, but we will engender "good will" with these families which is guaranteed to generate spin-off insurance sales.

I helped get a young family of 5 get on an Illinois GI health insurance plan called "All Family" in May. I made zero $$ for doing the research and helping them enroll, but they then felt comfortable enough to ask me for mortgage protection Life Insurance.

Steering business to a single carrier in retribution is not going to help you or truly hurt the carrier.
