So I hear Cigna is going to

Re: And Now the Commission Reductions Begin

Just got off the phone with cig and you are correct sir.......you will still get paid on the adults.........

This will only effect cases where the child will be a 150% rate-up or a decline. In these particular cases you will not be paid a commission.

If its a perfectly healthy family fully underwritten you receive a commission.

Re: Game Over for PCIP! First Official Email from Cigna...

Does this really upset or surprise you?

Hey, let the government pay for every diabetic, heart stroke, gout ridden, fybromialgic, morbidly obese, manic depressive, bipolar.

I want to keep selling to the healthy.

So you think these companies won't try to cut agents out even more than they do already on the healthy applicants too? Who do you think is driving the ship along with the the folks making the rules as they go? I don't know either but I bet there's a few carrier consultants in the pot flavoring it up a bit. The company name, prices, and contact information got there just fine, agents just got overlooked - oh, I bet it was just a simple oversight. They want to work direct and cut us out, they are greedy and when they write the policies they can dish out whatever kind of service or lack there of they want to - no one to answer to except the poor consumer who doesn't know his butt from a can opener when it comes to what he purchased. Cuts down on the service calls for sure. If you are the only game in town you can do as you please - just as BC of Texas.

Re: Cigna's First Shoe To Drop

We're blaming Cigna. It's not their fault.

It's the fault of the idiots that were elected to uphold the Constitution.

Re: And Now the Commission Reductions Begin

Ok, Bill3173 and Scott have two conflicting answers. Which one is correct?

Also, Sti replied "correct" to this statement:

So again, if a family applies for coverage with Cigna and ANY member of that family application has to go GI (HIPAA or Kid GI), does that negate the entire commisson for the sale, or just for the GI portion of the sale?

This is my understanding:

family applied and the son would be a decline - zero comp

family applies and the son can be underwritten - commission.

That's what was told to me, and I've never wanted to be wrong more than about this, but to quote the rep "I'll stay on the phone with you if you want to start crying".

It's not the end of the world, but it's pretty bad. I do a lot of true family plans.

Looks like taking a family to them will be a bad idea. Singles and couples only from now on, I guess.

Re: And Now the Commission Reductions Begin

Singles and couples only from now on

That's my position. Why take a chance on working for $0?

A friend and fellow agent asked if this approach was even legal? In other words, can they do this without changing the compensation agreement?

I would not think so. A memo does not constitute a change in a contractual language.

But Sti is never wrong, just ask him.
