So I hear Cigna is going to

Re: Cigna's First Shoe To Drop

Cigna still has a choice to pay commissions on the "healthy" part of the family. They are choosing not to.

We're blaming Cigna. It's not their fault.

It's the fault of the idiots that were elected to uphold the Constitution.

Re: And Now the Commission Reductions Begin

I think he was responding to a different scenario but it got confused so I wanted some clarification.

So, they can now cherry-pick only the healthiest risks and push the higher risks and GI to other carriers.

Re: Cigna's First Shoe To Drop

I got an email from Cigna today about no more commissions on policies with a child that is GI. I am thinking about starting a thread about this. What do you think?

Re: Cigna's First Shoe To Drop

That would be a great topic to discuss. I think you should do it.

Not necessarily, but they are using the agents as a pawn to effect this position.

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

I bet that new underwriting guides will appear very soon.

For kids, anything more than a head cold will be a rate up or a decline. :1baffled::1baffled:

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

Well I don't blame Cigna (I blame the Obamination). If I were a carrier, why would I want agents to bring me a family case with a GI child that could harm my fairly new block of business that I'm trying to keep close to a 80% MLR? If I don't pay a commission on these cases, agents are more likely to take these cases to a carrier that will pay a commission. If I were an agent, I'd sent the GI kid to healthcare.gov and get the family in the private carrier.

I think more carriers will follow what Cigna did. Why be anti-selected?

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

Absolutely agree. Cigna is not playing the Obama game as if things are rosey.

I still thing they are worthless in CA, but I do respect their decision.
