So I hear Cigna is going to

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

"young families that are still growing"....Say you have a married couple on the books with Cigna - no kids. If the wife gives birth, the child is currently not subject to underwriting. You'd still receive comp on that plan.

Not according to the email that I received. If the policy becomes gi issued, then your commission halts. The policy can become GI due the addition of family members on existing business.

4. This change is effective October 1, 2010 for:

a. New policies with one or more persons who do not meet medical underwriting guidelines
b. Existing policies that are modified to include one or more persons who do not meet medical
underwriting guidelines

I understand your point healthagent, but not sure that I would count on them understanding it.

What I'm saying is newborns are not subject to any underwriting. This is why expectant fathers can't get coverage on their own. But yes, you would have to seek further clarification regarding newborns for existing policy holder. I don't have a dog in the fight since Cigna doesn't write in MD.

I suspect that if the child is born with a uninsurable condition then you are hosed if added to the policy....now what if they are taken off a month later...do the commissions kick back in....

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

....but what happens now if the child is born with an uninsurable condition? There is no underwriting and comp is still paid.

What Cigna is stating is that no comp is paid on deal where the child doesn't qualify based on current UW guidelines. But there are no UW guidelines for newborns since they're not subject to underwriting.

Should be interesting to hear Cigna's answer to this one.

Scott, I think you'd be first to know that newborns are not subject to underwriting. Were your kids underwritten when they had their issues at birth? No - they went right onto your policy.

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

Dude...I really do not think cigna has thought that far ahead....but to put it in simple terms...if your kid has a uninsurable condition and is added to a policy you lose...

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision

....but uninsurable suggests that you're even subject to underwriting...which newborns are not. Your turn:-)

Re: So I hear Cigna is going to screw us out of a commision
