Telemarketing Advice

I don't know what you sell, I sell Med Supps. I would never consider setting an appointment with a prospect unless I know how much they are paying per month and without telling them exactly how much the premium/savings would be if they take a policy with me.

That would be to do a "Medicare Review" and those are mostly going to be a waste of my time.

Telling them the premium prior to setting the appointment probably works best in the senior market.

I would rather run 5 appts per week and sell them all then run 15 and sell 5, just my opinion.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you on that, but I think most of us would rather run 15 and sell 10 then run 5 and sell 5.

With FE it's a lot trickier to tell who is a good prospect over the phone than it is with a Med supp. With an average FYC being three times a supp it makes it more interesting to drive out there too. I think with supps you have a pretty good idea of where it's going long before you get there. Just my 2.5 cents.

If I was setting the appointments myself I would maybe agree with quoting them a price, but I will never have my marketer quote prices.

If your quoting prices and closing the deal over the phone why are you meeting with them face to face? Wouldn't you be better off moving to tele-sales?

You go to see them to solidify the deal even more. You show them everything you've told them in writing!

And on top of that, you cross sell!

I had a lady just call me and for $6 a hour, she will call people for us and offer our services. She didnt speak English very well at all.

I have her number if anyone thinks that is a good deal.

because I call locally and most people like to do business face to face in my opinion. quoting price opens the door for them to say, ok let me think about it, but quoting price if they are seriously interested should not drive them off.

Would you still do this if a marketer was making the calls for you?

I don't think I get calls from America anymore.

It's different with med sups and FE.

I would never disagree with Frank on how to sell med sups. But, for FE, I will never give rates over the phone. Nor do I do any qualifying.

I am working from leads, so that is different than cold calling as well, but I am only calling to set the appointment.

Thanks for the info. If you can offer any feedback on the script I posted I would greatly appreciate it.
