The more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will achieve the security that you desire.

True, you can't grow (and sustain growth) in health, finances, relationships, etc unless you grow YOU first!!

Re: Average Insurance Agent Salary

When i started 5 years ago my boss told me i would be making 70,000 in 2-3 years. Well I am still making the 18,000 base pay and last year i made 5,000 in commission. I work a hard 40 hours a week and am trying every angle that I can think of to get new clinets.

Re: Average Insurance Agent Salary

It all comes back to the agent and how bad he wants to be in this business. I have seen brand new agents do very well and I've seen agents that you would think could sell 100 apps a day, not do anything.

The question is how bad do you want and what are you willing to do to get their.

I would love to be able to play the guitar, but I'm not willing to do what it takes to learn how. Maybe I can just practice a little and learn a little bit.

If you are going to do anything, but everything that you are and have into it.

I think any agent in the world should be able to at least sell 1 to 2 apps a week, no matter what he is selling.

Which line of insurance do you sell?

You may spend 40 hours fooling yourself that you're working, but there is no possible way you are spending 40 hours seeing people or actively fighting to see people (ie talking to suspects/prospects). I don't care if you are socially inept, ugly as a catfish, if you actually spent 40 hours prospecting or seeing people you couldn't help but make substantially more money. I could attach a note to a monkey and let him lose in an industrial park and he could do more than $5000 in a year.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but this isn't the career for you if you haven't figured this out in five years. That's nothing to be ashamed of, most of the population isn't geared to be in direct sales. You owe it to yourself to find something you are good at and can provide you a decent living.
