The I Love Door Knocking "December to Remember" Christmas Extravaganza Thread (powered by bacon)

It is not "silent" recruiter in TN.. That is what Greg always called JD because JD always promoted whatever IMO he was with.

My mistake ... I will go back and edit that to accurately reflect that it is silent recruiter in North Carolina!

If you know, how many apps came from the preset appts?

I sold 11 apps at pre-set appointments that showed for the set appointment time.

I sold 7 additional apps to leads who had agreed to a pre-set appointment, no showed me, but were found home on a subsequent door knock. Any lead that no shows me becomes a priority door knock lead. I will knock them three times a day over the following two days.

I sold 10 apps from straight door knocks.

I sold 2 apps to referrals.

If we include those 7 with door knocks since that what they were, we have 17 out of 255 (288-33) , or 15:1.
Preset appts were 11 out of 33.
Short term but if it continues, basically 15 knocks is the equivalent to 3 presets.
People like to knock recording such stats, but it gives a lot of ammo when devising a future plan for the individual.

I agree. At the same time, however one slices it, I am pleased with the results. I am a bit tired, and I think I May have just posted in the 1000 mile club, which means I probably a bit loopy as a result of my tiredness.

As you note, short term. The numbers will become more meaningful over the coming 3 to 6 months.

I find activity goals work best for me as I like for my goal to be something I can control. So I have set a goal for days worked and doors knocked in December... to allow me to write $1667 in monthly FE premium in the month of December for $20K AP.

I decided to raise the "December to Remember Goal" to $2000 in monthly premium. I want to stretch myself farther

If you only focused on the money goal, you would've already hit it and stopped, without knowing what you could max out at. Activity's the right way to go.

True story, Tom. I'm taking the rest of the year off :jiggy:

Not really ... my appointment setter has agreed to call for me next Wednesday and Thursday, so my plan is to knock Wednesday and run appointments and knock Thursday and Friday. But as for this thread ... it is now yesterday's news. For the rest of the year, I will be mentally and forumally preparing for next stupendous feat of FE sales improvement ... Coming to an Final Expense Forum near you ...

Great job Dave!!!

"December to Remember" all wrapped up with a bow ... notes and niblets

Why Did I Do This

First, I was worried that December might be a slow month, and I did not want a slow month, so I decided I'd work harder and smarter than I have since I got into the business, and that I'd commit 100% to what @SPUR CITY had been telling me to do: Get an appointment setter and then get out in the field and stay out in the field. Spend as much time as possible in the field running appointments or door knocking when there was no appointment scheduled.

Second, I wanted some external degree of accountability. For me, it would be difficult to proclaim a Big Goal and then not pursue that goal. For that reason, I also got my family involved - especially my 13 year old son. He has been my biggest coach and cheerleader throughout this month.

Results

My production this month is essentially double my average monthly production since I started full-time almost 11 months ago. Interestingly, my deposits month to date are exactly average.

What will be different for me with respect to spendable deposits is this: Most months I'd write a few policies that pay on draft, but most paid on issue, i.e. most of my business was written with carriers that paid me "now money" rather than "next month money." This month I wrote as much "now money" business as usual, but I wrote much more "next month money" business as well. I have some nice pay days waiting for me the first week or so of January. I also have some decent pay days awaiting me in February. The fact that I will be starting each of the next two months with decent money coming in is exciting to me.

I can see how writing more business will have a cumulative affect on what one brings in from month to month. If going forward, I were to fall back to my average, I will enjoy two better than average cash flow months in January and February due to my activity in December. But by March, I'd be back to my former average cash flow. One goal I have going forward, of course, is that this month is just the beginning of what should be my establishing of a newer and higher monthly average production.

That "As-earned" Thing

Another goal I have is to create an "as earned" income stream from one or two carriers of at least $5k/month. I was going to use Transamerica for that purpose, but oh my goodness - I just cannot waste that much time with them. Smaller carriers like Family Benefit, or even KSKJ can take most of what I use Trans for without 1/10th of the headaches of dealing with Trans. I'd much rather work with a carrier who can correct a small, inconsequential error with a phone call or an email than a carrier who insists that everything be signed, initialed, and current dated.

As some of my Family Benefit business is already as-earned due to credit card and direct express payors, it makes sense to just go all as-earned with them. I will be writing significantly more FBL in 2019 than I had this year. I expect to make the Portugal trip with FBL in 2020. If I manage to place $70K issue and paid business with them during 2020, I will more than achieve my goal of a $5K as-earned income stream.

2019 Goals

1) Place $70K minimum issue/paid with Family Benefit on an as-earned basis and go to Portugal

2) Select another carrier whose trip I will also win

3) Write $4K/week every week as a minimum and never miss

4) Put that health license and AHIP certification I got this year to use in 2019

5) Remember the December to Remember and the activity level that made it happen.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ... Thanks for playing along!
