Those of You that Travel to Sell FE

Yep lol, in fact I should do a thread. I IMO shopped every IMO you can think of. EFES was a tough choice when they finally did contact me. The guy who replaced Shannon Davey is super energetic and super attentative. For me it came down to there and 360. The only thing I know is if I don't think I'm getting what I need from 360 and need to go to EFES that can happen. With EFES I'd have to produce so much before they'd release, or sit out six months.

CJR, is Shannon Davey still with EFES? You said he got replaced, which is why I'm wondering.

I couldn't even begin to make assumptions on how they work. As I learned in the Army, that's above my pay level. All I know is I'm a newbie surrounded by a bunch of successful guys in THE MARKET I'm trying to break into. Surrounding yourself with successful people can't hurt your chances of being successful.

I was hired and trained by The Great One, Mel Harris. I was told to avoid him, which is why I looked him up. He was old enough to be my grandpa, but falling under his tutelage was the best thing that could have happened to me, in more ways than one.

I'll never forget. He was wrapping things up as he was getting ready to retire. After a month <>, it was just me and him left in his office. It is still my honest opinion that he is the best insurance salesman that ever lived. Getting that individual attention was the best thing that could have ever happened to get my sales career started.

I'll never forget the thud I felt within me, when just 10 months <> later he officially announced his retirement.

I didn't learn much in the army. I was a rebel in those days.

and when you call "Oh I never sent that card in,
or they stand you up or maybe you get the appointment after a few trys. I guess you spend
1k for a 3000 drop and do it that way.Why do you
think there is a 115% contract, because it's easy.
I know all the regulars on here from the South can't wait to knowledge how smart and successful they are and that no one in the FE
market struggles at all.

Actually selling FE in the south is probably one of the more difficult areas of the country to market. Generating leads in the south can be very very hard, thats why a per lead dm program is important in the lower return states.

You must be reading a different forum than I am reading. I haven't heard anyone say that selling FE is done without struggle.. Everyone says it is difficult and takes dedication and hard work. Some are more successful than others and for some it may come easier than it does for others but that is the case in every walk of life.

There are FE agents making bank in every part of the country. Including your's. There are FE agents struggling mightily in every part of the country. Including your's.

Some are more successful than others and for some it may come easier than it does for others but that is the case in every walk of life.

Ok, I'll play contrarian. This stuff is easy, probably the easiest thing I've ever done in my life, with virtually 0 risk involved.

Are there sporadic times(maybe a week or 2 all year) when I hit a rough patch...sure, but overall, if you have the right blueprint to follow...easy as pie...that's a southern thang.

Okay, so I'll go in the middle.

This is easy inasmuch the lead you got, they already requested the information. You know that a certain percentage of those are going to buy, even if a monkey showed up (No offense, Gollini.).
It is also not a hard thing to enjoy the challenge of getting the extra sales.

I think where this business gets hard is when it starts playing on your head. Namely, you get the few cold streaks you experience. It always seem when you hit a cold streak, that is about the time you get about 3 or 4 e-mails, and and all of it is about business falling off the books. All the while that is happening came an unexpected blow from one of the insurance companies that something went wrong with a current contract in underwriting. It's about that time you are thinking, "I would have been better off flipping burgers at McDonald's."

Then, things turn around again. You go on 5 appointments and get a triple in that house, a double in this one, and 3 singles, and then again....this business seems so easy.

IMO, what keeps you going is not the high times. It is not riding the wave of feelings. It is about keeping that level mindset and attitude towards what you are doing. When times get tough, it is about seeing the good in whatever you are going through, and then having the foresight in knowing that your past experience tells you your current setback is only temporal.

This is also why I think all salespeople need to develop a solid and consistent work ethic. If that is the case, they will ride through the storm and really be able to enjoy the good times.

That's my take. That's my approach. Would most of you successful salespeople agree?

Well said. It's always a roller coaster. Handling the downs is the tough part.
