Top Women Producers in FE?

This is hard for me to share but I think it is important. I was going to a client appointment. I was in a "good" neighborhood. It was August, one o'clock in the afternoon on a gorgeous sunny day. I got out of my car, went to the trunk to grab my bag and was immediately mugged by three young men. I was sexually assaulted and beaten within an inch of my life. I was left for dead in the dirt on the side of the street a bloody mess. I had my skull and ribs fractured. I had many of my teeth broken out and my ear ripped off the side of my head from being hit so hard. (It was surgically repaired and is fine now.) Cars drove past, no one stopped. I was only saved because a man ran out waving his phone screaming he was calling the police and dialed 911. He risked his own life to save mine. So, in my opinion, it is not safe for women to go to appointments by themselves. Nope. Not one bit. The streets can be crazy. I pray what happened to me does not ever happen to anyone else regardless of gender. All this being said, I didn't quit the industry. I kept on but I do my meetings and apps, by phone, email, screen share, and many platforms that are available for true telephonic enrollments. It has been five years since I was attacked. In that time, I am privileged and honored to have some amazing agents who work under me. I built a dedicated and hardworking group of individuals who all actively write business. I opened a call center. And last year, I earned more money than I ever thought possible across all lines of business. In this industry, you have to have heart, self discipline, drive, a whole lot of moxie, genuiness and a true desire to help people, and for me, a strong faith in God. Do the right things, find the right people to work with who will support you on your journey. You can make excuses or you can get to work and make money. It is a phenomenal industry.

Reading this a phrase comes to mind.

"Fights like a Girl!"

Inspirational story.

And thank you for the good wishes. My point is as women especially, if you decide to run appointments you need to be patently aware it can and did happen. If you chose not to run appointments, there are a lot of ways to still be incredibly successful in this industry.
Terrible experience. Are you still selling?
My mother in law was an agent for 25 years before she passed. When she worked alone she would write down all her appointment's address before she left for the day so if she didn't come home my father in law could track her down. She made really good money and had more than she could ever spend. I don't understand why people risk their safety when they don't have to. Just sell by phone.

No. They did not have anything to do with the appointment. They had been around the corner. The prosecutor believed it was a random act of violence. As far as I am aware, they were never caught.
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm glad to see that you pulled through and are well!

I don't blame you for going the telesales route after hearing that unfortunate story. Glad you didn't let them "win" and knock you out of the business. Adapt & Overcome. Sounds like you are doing very well for yourself. CONGRATS!

This is likely the highest producing female agent in the country:

She will clear over 200k this year in net profit, on her own pen.

Shes a beast!

I've had a couple of violent encounters. I'm not a woman, so nothing at all like lovinglife's experience. And not extreme, just assaults and theft. But enough to make me a lot more cautious, and aware of the potential for danger.

I write down where I'm going each day for the same reason your mother-in-law did. My wife is also able to track my phone, so if I'm missing, at least they can follow the phone.

I often sell by phone, but I do much better F2F, and enjoy it a great deal more, even though I'm well aware of the safety risk. But I wouldn't encourage a woman, or anyone who appears to be vulnerable to go into some of my clients' neighborhoods.

Thanks, again, everyone, for your very kind and supportive comments. I agree with shonceman, you definitely need to provide an itinerary to someone each day you are in the field. And yes there are definite benefits to working in the field. For me, the risks do not outweigh the rewards. You can count on me for telephonic, etc., enrollments.

Hi. Wow that was almost scary to read. Im a woman in the industry that tends to go on appointments by myself. I give my mom clients name and address, just in case, I thought I was protecting myself in a sense, But that doesn't protect me from something like what happened to you. I'm glad your okay.
With that being said if you can please elaborate on the part I quoted. How did you go about stop going on sales to the way you do now via phone, email, screen share etc? Im looking to go this same route as Im tired of having to say a prayer before going into a clients house and would love to spend more time home with my son.
