Tracking Sent Emails

I have a question for you computer mavens: Is there a way to track if an individual has received an email that you have sent to them? Any information is appreciated.

It just gets marked as delivered. The real problem is when it's sent to yahoo, google, etc...then you get nothing.

With ReadNotify I get an email when it is delivered, and when it is opened and read. I can log in to RN and see if it was forwarded, deleted without opening, bounced or opened multiple times.

Thanks for the information guys. Can an email that was previously sent that the recipient alleges he never recived, but that never bounced back, still be tracked? BTW no tracking was used when it was sent, but a receipt as requested. No receipt was received.

Unless there is some kind of tracking, I don't know how you would know if he got it or not.

I sent a proposal, twice, and the guy said he never got it. Checked ReadNotify and it had been delivered but never opened.

He checked, it was not in his box.

"Is your email [email protected]?"

No, it is [email protected].

Oh, that explains it . . .

You can pay the receiving isp a fee and they will tell you that they (the isp, not the recipient) received it, but flagged it as spam (or any other reason why they didn't pass it on). Most don't keep logs for more than a few days though (if that), so if you need it, ask quickly.

It really isn't that uncommon for a mail server to not deliver someones email. Every host runs some sort of spam software and usually just drops things it thinks are spam, rather than bouncing them. Some, if the spamminess is borderline, will bounce the message, but they usually don't bother.

Of course, you might have the person check their spam folder, it could be there as well.
