Tracking Sent Emails

Thanks for your reply, Dan. I really am interested in tracing rather than tracking this email. My ISP always appears to send me an email from the "postmaster" if it cannot be delivered for any reason; thus, I do not believe this person is being truthful. Also, I am going to follow Bob's suggestion and use ReadNow to track my future emails. You guys have been very helpful.

Unless there is some kind of tracking, I don't know how you would know if he got it or not.

I sent a proposal, twice, and the guy said he never got it. Checked ReadNotify and it had been delivered but never opened.

He checked, it was not in his box.

"Is your email [email protected]?"

No, it is [email protected].

Oh, that explains it . . .

What's really funny, is when they've opened the email and pdf files on more than one occasion, a few days apart, so you know they're thinking hard about your proposals.

Call them and they say "Oh, I haven't had a chance to look at the email, I'll get back to you".

Readnotify is a sneaky little lie detector.

Don't let the spell check cops get you, Arnguy:yes:

Only sometimes will you get that 'postmaster' email. For instance, send an email to a non-existent account at yahoo and you'll get one. Basically, the yahoo mail server responds back to your ISP's mail server that it is a non-existent account.

Send a message that my system detects as spam and then you'll swear the dog ate it. It will never be heard from again. Just the way it is. Okay, a lot of 'spam light' gets through, but truly spammy messages disappear into never-never land. You'll find this true in a lot of mail servers.

Indeed.

I can also learn who is really interested (opened the email), who isn't. I find that if I call as soon as I am notified it usually results in a sale.

Some email clients can actually detect when someone's tracking the open rate of an email and ask do you wish to allow.

:D

By the way, anyone remember what happens at 8pm?

If that works for you, then that's great. I always wait a while, as I don't want to spook the person, but maybe your way is better.

I have found that if they open the pdfs' more than once, particularly the outline of coverage docs, then there is serious interest and they will be calling soon.

If they open my email to review what I've written more than once, same as with the pdfs.

Not with mine. If they are asked this question, my emails are encrypted with a self destruct mechanism. The email will evaporate right before their eyes. They'll never catch me, I won't be taken alive.
