TransAmerica-Sets Aside $for Future PayOut?

If there were figures available that showed more claims were paid when the application was taken by phone then I would tend to believe it's true.

No one seems to be forthcoming with those numbers either way. As I said earlier, the only company I've ever heard about sharing the actual percentage with agents is CL and they supposedly told the agents that they pay 48% of contestable claims.

I don't even know if that's true. Just what was reported by some CL agents.

My personal experience is far different tan those numbers except with one company. And I don't write that company any longer.

Please note, I'm not saying that it is better or worse in a call center environment. I'm simply telling you the impact it has. I am as curious as you on the actual numbers, although I doubt we will ever see it.

You are simply putting your marketer spin on it. That's why I can deny it.

Give me some real numbers to make your argument.

If face to face agents were required to record presentations with customers it would make it more difficult to white sheet or commit fraud and easier to find fraud in some cases.

Are you saying that you would need stats to back up that statement?

I'd say there are far fewer people that would lie on a phone interview vs just filling out a paper app. I think this definitely can cut down on the smoking/non smoking clean sheets.

I have run across smokers written as non smokers with companies that require a phone interview.

I've told the people that they had to tell the interviewer that they didn't smoke. They to a person say they did not.

But yes, I run into far more of those where an interview wasn't required. I just helped a couple get a refund from a company where they told the agents they smoked and the agents told them it was OK to say they didn't. That was a non interview company.

I put them with an interview company just to make sure it was recorded that they were smokers.

Yea I don't think it can be eliminated but I think it definitely can help. I've had clients tell me that agents told them it was only considered smoking if they smoked "x" packs a day. I believe nothing out of anyone's mouth nowadays but I wouldn't be surprised if some commission breathe agent pulled something like that. Ive noticed many people on phone interviews sometimes start sharing more than what they shared with me...I think it has to do with the nervousness that a phone interview brings to some people and I think the average person can't out right lie to someone that says this phone is recorded etc etc

Do you suffer from diabetes?
No but my cousins uncles best friend had a heart attack 4 years ago

:/????

I had a lady talk herself out of a med sup approval last Thursday with Equitable because she just kept talking about stuff they didn't ask. She is a retired nurse and thinks she's smarter than all of us and wanted that interviewer to know it too.

But she said she probably should get a bone scan. They didn't decline her but said she needed to get that bone scan done before they approved her.

In this case it was an MADP situation and we had to have an answer before the 14th. So she messed herself up by talking.

I agree 100% with that statement. Especially if the entire presentation was recorded.

This is why you find a lot of insurance carriers moving into telesales. They feel like its more controlled.

I would never allow myself to be recorded. I barely let people take my picture. Haha

Who is moving to that? Let's not forget Wells Fargo happened so obviously recorded phone calls do not necessarily mean much unless you have someone constantly checking everyone of them.

That has nothing to do with companies wanting to do telesales. Companies are hoping that someone will perfect the direct to consumer sales for FE so they can get rid of agents.

So, what's the percentage difference of contestable claims paid that done completely by phone vs an agent involved with or without a phone interview?

It doesn't matter how honest/dishonest the agent/proposed insured is in the tele-sales/field sales. ALL FE companies will do a medical records search if the proposed insured dies in the 2 year contestability period.

What you are all arguing about is a mute point.
