Travel Distance for Final Expense Leads

I was wondering as a new guy running FE leads how far do most of you travel to run your appointments? Do the majority of you stay close to home? Or are you running appointments an hour or more away from home?

I usually drive an hour to my appointments. Personal preference. I don't like to work my home area. I just don't have the same laser focus when I'm working close to home. I also have trouble with getting them to act that day when I'm close to home since it's so convenient for them to tell me to come back.

I usually schedule 6 appointments in the area I'm working. I'm in the field 2 days a week. I average over $2000 ap for every day I'm in the field.

I found my area where I want to market FE sucks,

So

I have to drive hr to a more unfavorable area, which should be more favorable for my wallet.

Do you use any type of system for mapping out your appointments or are you really familiar with your area and perhaps don't need a GPS or computer program to get your appointments in some kind of order?

I think he knows his area well enough by now that he prolly doesn't need anything. He seemed to know his area pretty well when he was talking about it on that interview on FEXcontracting.com

I bought Microsoft Streets and Trips. You can input your addresses in that program, give it a start and end point and it will calculate a good route. Then you just put your leads in that order and either set appts in that order, door knock in that order or a mixture of both.

I do better, a lot better, when I just show at people's door. But I try to set one appt and then door knock the ones around it.

I work by counties but I will put all the zip codes together in my ounty folders to start with.

I know all my counties pretty well since I've been working the same ones for almost 10 years. I do use a GPS to get from one stop to the next.

Telesales is the ticket. Not only does it eliminate your driving, it also eliminates your ability to make money in FE. Win-win! For your competition that is.

If only Greg would hire agents here in Tampa I could run into more of these SL policies.;)

I work my home county, but have worked an hour north, east, and south from home in the past.

I'm going to try out Northeast Alabama for a few months and see how that goes.

How large are the counties where you live. Mine is about 6,000 Sq miles.

Most of my business is 3-4 hours away. Because that is where the money is. Bay Area and So Cal are much larger premiums. Also I prefer to do business with people at least an hour of so away. Primarily because I do not want to run into clients when I am not working.

Maricopa county is 9,200 sq miles and 4 million people. Have to break it up into sections for scheduling.
