Trying to Seperate the Men from the Boys?

No cloak and daggers. Just easier to talk then to keep typing on my phone.
I posted the real issue is how you get your leads and how you work your leads. I, for one, don't even consider ordering any leads other lead than dirct mail. Then I usually make a few appointments but prefer to door knock.

For a new guy starting out, which is what I assume the thread starter is, there are so many variables. I have no idea what frame of mind he is in. You either gotta be thick skinned and dumb as a bag of hammers (to door knock) or cool blooded with no concern for the money you lose when people hang up on you. (To set appts). You don't actually lost any money cause you just go for knock them loo I'm a week out two. But it can be gut wrenching when you get a few hang ups in a row.

Regardless of your method, once you have figured out what works for you sick with it. Everyone else may laugh at you buy if your making money then no problem. I see guys constantly changing. Always chasing the next great c idea when really they are b as nking with their current system

Also to give you a quick run down.

I spend 2 k a month on leads.

I avg 8k in submiitted biz

I have perdistrncy of 80/85%

I make more sales door knocking

I tend to get higher prrmium with appts

I also sick at young in my phone.

^^Each person has to figure out what works best them but that comes with time. In the learning phase you need to follow an already cleared path.

If you stay in this business you will work out your own "system", for lack of a better way to say it.

For me that is no doorknocking unless I just can't get in touch with them any other way. I hate to doorknock and will not doorknock if I'm over my weekly goal.

I get 15 leads per week and have for almost 5 years. I'm in the field generally on Tues and Thurs. I set Tues. appointments on Monday and Thurs. appointments on Wed. I will not schedule more than one day out.

My goal is 6 appointments on each field day. I can't always get 6 for Thurs. but I can't remember not being able to get 6 on Tues. My leads come in on Sat morning all in the same county.

If I I can't fill up Thurs with appointments then I will doorknock the area I'm working. I will doorknock the leads with no phone numbers or the ones I have called over and over with no ans. Unless I'm at my weekly goal. I only have 3 appointments scheduled for tomorow but I am already over my weekly goal this week. I will do no doorknocking tomorrow. I'll run my 3 set appointments. Maybe go deliever a policy if I can catch the lady at home and then call it a week.

Awesome thanks, great numbers too. and it proves if you consistently put into your business your can and will reap the rewards.

Cool, good stuff, I like the goal comment, if you hit your goal your good, if not ya work till ya do. (Generally speaking I assume) and if I understand correctly your a pretty big producers, I assume this because you have your system and you run it flawlessly and your like a legend on here. :)
 
My weekly goal is $3000 ap. Has been that for the 5 years I've been with EFES.

Actually since I wnet fulltime into FE which was Feb. 1, 2009. I started with EFES in late Spt. '08 and really wasn't committed to FE for the first 4 months. I was doing other things and was heavy in MA. The Humana imposed MIPPA regulations of '08 seemed like a deathnell to me so I was looking to expand my limited FE offerings. I still worked the '08 AEP as I had many people to see.

I decided in Jan of '09 that I was going to to drop all the other stuff and work FE fulltime. We had the ice storm of a century here at the end of Jan '09 and that slowed me down considerably since we were out of power for 2 weeks.

Still managed to do $10,000 ap per month doring those months and then kinda took off starting with March '09. I've not been below $10,000 ap for 56 consecutive months now and am just just shy of $1,000,000 all time with EFES, {$982,000 to be exact}.

So I have averaged $4000/wk ap for 5 years now even though my gaol is $3000. The reason for that is because I do not need 15 leads per week to reach my goal but 15 leads per week is their minimum order. If I have to buy them then I will work them.

I don't just quit on the week if I have my goal though. I'm over goal this week but I still set 3 appointments for tomorrow. What I won't do after reaching my goal is do the stuff I don't like. Doorknocking is one of those things.

But yes, I have a system and I work that system every week and every appointment. Some call me a "machine". They mean it as a compliment and I take it that way.

I am proud of that $10,000/mo streak but there is one that I become more proud of. EFES has a $2000 ap per week streak. That's at least $2000 submitted business. This week marks my 208th week. They don't seem to be making mush of a big deal about it. I suppose that's because I am leaving EFES. So I will have to make a big deal of it myself.:yes:

I spend zero on leads, and have not purchased a single lead since 1989. Of course, I am no where near JD on my writing of new business, either, I kind of do it part time, and I kind of mess around with it, writing part time. Were the leads I was using in 1989 worth it? Yes they were. I don't "hate" all leads. I just have not bought into this FE lifestyle of buying leads each week. It's good for some, it obviously works for JD. Good for him. Maybe your new agent can make it work, good for him as well.

I resigned from EFES almost 2 months ago. I agreed to work out all of my leads that they had miled for me. Those have just about played out now. Plus I did really want to take that streak to 4 years. I doubt it will ever broken. The next closest is 110 weeks and that was Tim W when he was with EFES. He would have probably still kept his going had he stayed.

Second place right now is 29 weeks. Right now I think next week will be my last with EFES. Only thing would change that is a bunch of leads come in.

I am following Travis to fexcontracting. EFES has also agreed to release me from all contracts and already have from some. It was a very tough decision for me to leave EFES but it's just time.
