There you go! That's the arch-conservative ethos I've been waiting to hear.
But there is something I don't understand?
You mean you don't think most of the women with children are faking it as well? You don't think they are slackers and pikers who could get a job but simply don't want to and basically don't care if their kids go hungry?
And why would you want to feed the kids? Won't they just grow up and breed more homeless kids of their own?
So I guess you were not one of those who contributed a buck or two to Dwayne's request? That's OK. Seeing as only $350 was contributed and that I contributed almost one third of that, very few agreed with me that this was a good cause and that most agreed with you that it would be money wasted.
I'm willing to bet that if the NRA asked you to donate to a fund to buy guns for the homeless so they could hunt their own food that you'd be right there with checkbook in hand.
Or maybe if Rush Limbaugh asked for donations to buy every homeless person a copy of Sarah Palin's new book? I'm sure you would give to that.
What if Glen Beck sought donations to build a huge camp for the homeless and transportation (in boxcars) to send them there? I'll bet that sounds like something you'd give to.
No one says you HAVE to donate to Dwayne's fund to help the homeless in his area. But to castigate those of us who did (or do) is exactly why I'm so proud that I'm nothing like the man you are and why a man like you would never want to be a friend or colleague to a man like me.
I know you. I've known men like you all my life. You look at kind souls like Dwayne as stupid fools trying to improve upon the human condition. Your bible says that the poor will always be with us... and you see that as a rationalization to turn a blind eye to any and all human suffering anywhere around you. Yes, you have a hundred and one ways to rationalize your hard-hearted, zero-sum life.
That said, I know a lot of conservative men and women who hate the government and who see everything in terms of survival of the fittest and that poverty is God's will... but still they write a check to the Salvation Army or to someone like Dwayne because... well because... in my opinion... in their heart of hearts, down deep, they really don't believe all the arch-con crap they are told is gospel.
When you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner this week and you say "... in Jesus name we pray..." perhaps you will give a quick thought to how proud of you he must be and the exemplary life you are leading.
And come Christmas, be sure emphasize to your children the following passage form Dickens:
Al3
Wow, tell me how you really feel ... you must be from California.
Ha!
I have nothing to do with Glenn Beck or the conservative movement ...
I just don't like seeing men on the streets that could work ...
And yes, I feel women and children should be taken care of ... ultimately by the father ... but that is laughable these days ...
You see, I see the same attitude in men everywhere ... so lazy ... even in insurance ... i get calls from guys crying about how it isn't working for them ... or they are willing to take minimum wage their whole life ... Dude! Better yourself. Work hard. Do what it takes ... no body is going to do it for you.
anyway, anyone got a chill pill for al3 ...
As for me, I've given most of my adult life to help kids on the street get off drugs and spent my time fund raising for activities to help people all over the world and, presently, 25% of my income goes into non profit work ... So don't put out these blanket statements on me from your cush california home ...
Wow!
