Urgent Help Needed for No Shows

If they are different than the ones I go back in Jan I can't tell the difference. But, that's why I want Travis to listen. A second opinion. It could be that I dislike them so much that I'm not open minded on them.

Surly you jest, JD! Not open minded? You?!!

From an IMO point of view... Telemarketing leads are wonderful since you can get many many more leads than Direct Mail.. With this in mind, i'm sure EFES is not exactly overwhelmed with joy that one of their top producers is writing about his negative experiences on this site.. especially since they talk about how good these leads are during their monthly agent calls...

On another note, speaking of calls..

NEWBY, when are you going to post the Travis T part 2 on your site? seriously dude, i'm home with the flu and it would be nice to listen to the rest of the call...

They are probably not happy about it but that's what one gets with me. I don't sugarcoat anything. I know there are companies that have not liked what I posted on here too.

What would you say is the difference in your first and second appointment setter?
What is a typical amount that you pay?

I know that no shows happen, etc. but what can be done to help solidify appointment...especially eliminating the ones that think its free?
Should appointment setter be general? "He will be by to drop off information you requested." Or "He will be by to show you information about the life insurance program you requested."[/QUOTE]

After the appointment is set, say "ok, Mr. JD will be by tomorrow between 2-2:30. If an emergency comes up and you can not meet Mr. JD you'll need to call him. His cell # is....You know how expensive gas is these days.

Also, he'll be giving you your free memorial guide (free prescription discount card, free living will, etc.) when he visits you tomorrow. A lot of people seem to like this.

By the way, do you have a family member, friend, or neighbor who might also be interested?

Haha!:D On these teleleads I am certainly not open minded. I was when I first tried them. I think I was one of the first to use them. I know I used them before Travis even knew about them. I thought they were terrible then. That was last Oct.

They said they were working to improve them and I agreed to try some more in late Jan or early Feb. I got 13 then. I got credit for 5 of those after a healthy argument and being told by the person in charge of the teleleads that I just didn't know what a good lead was. I did not sell any of the other 8.

I decided then that I wasn't going to use them anymore. But, things change and I was in your office last week when they called and said they were having trouble with my lead flow. They only had 11 leads for me total and they were in 4 counties. I told them to just send them all.

I called them back driving home because I thought about the teleleads and asked about getting 4 teleleads to make to the 15. That's how I got some this week.

One of the 11 leads was bad and I got credit so they were going to get 5 teleleads. By Monday afternoon I had already filled my day for Tues and was hoping they wouldn't be able to get me any teleleads but they did send one and after I listened to it I called and told them I didn't want anymore. They said they would stop calling for me but any that were already in the pipeline couldn't be stopped. I ended up getting 4 more.

After listening to all 5 I thought 3 were bad. But I sent them to Travis for a second opinion and wasn't going to ask for credit unless he agreed they were bad. Travis thought the 3 I said were bad were bad but not to the point of qualifying for credit. He said they met the EFES definition of a lead. I did not ask for credit for any of them.

I didn't get to call them until yesterday because Tues was full by the time I got these. I have appointments with 2 of them today. One of the 3 I thought was bad would not meet with me and said she never agreed to have someone talk to her, {and I agree that she did not}. One of the 3 that I thought was bad is one of the appointments but I don't feel good at all about how the conversation went on that one and I only set aside an hour there instead of my normal hour and a half. Two others I have ben unable to contact but I did talk to the wife of one that I thought was bad and she said, "he told those people he wasn't interested". I will try to call that guy again, or I may doorknock it? I don't feel very confident in that one.

I may have to take some more of these since they are having trouble, apparently, with my mail leads. Travis told me he doesn't listen to them in advance now. So if I get some more I will not listen to them beforehand.

I'll to this that I am quite disappointed in how I think about the teleleads. I am not a lead complainer and never have ben. I've always said that the worst leads I've ever worked were LH leads and the best were NAA. There are some agent loving the EFES teleleads. Travis is killing with them. There are some very good things about the telelead. They verify the address, they obviously have a valid phone number and they verify that they have a bank account. Those area ll good things.

The problem I have is that I deal with reply cards. The people I normally see have taken an action to inquire, at the very least. EFES is getting the teleleads from the non responders to mail pice. I find there's a reason they did not respond. When I set my own appointments I do not talk my way into homes. If people do not want to talk then I don't want to talk to them either. It seems to me that the phone interviewers are talking past people just to get an iota of agreement. They talk "discounts" to the people over and over. I don't like that. I guess whether or not it's deceptive is each person's opinion but it is my opinion that it is.

But, last month Travis did $45,000 ap and I did $17,000. He used teleleads and I didn't.

^^^ What only 17k last month? man, your slipping JD:goofy:..

I would take that every month without qualms. Anyways, my lead connection for those half automated but legal telemarketing leads decided to pull out of FL. I have now another lead that is only going to cost me $16 and it is a full blown telemarketing lead that gets a lot of data out of the lead. I am expecting to see better numbers. It points out an agent will be contacting them, verifies they have an account, and you get the recording.

We shall see, I plan on dropping some mailers soon to add into the mix.

My personal experience overall with telemarketing has been net positive, but I also like Mailers. I think both would be a good way to go.

JD's a slacker...I did 3 sales off my 10 teleleads about 2mos ago. 1 I got lucky & door knocked her senior center & she was in the lobby & WAS actually looking into replacing her term policy. Another 1 I did 1 helluva job on the phone to GET the appt, and she finally relented! Turns out she had term too, replaced hers & got a referral from her. The other 8 never let me even have a chance to talk to them...which coincides with their call that they werent interested!

I never want anymore EFES tele leads!!

From my last 21 appointments, 14 where no shows!!!!!!

I recently changed to a new appointment setter, she is great, gets me 4 appointments a day like clockwork, however, getting loads of no shows.

With my old appointment setter, I also got no shows, about 25%, since spring, it has gotten worse, people are out in the weather.

I have a great closing ratio, hard working appointment setter, should be a WIN.

I'm having doubts over the whole business, if the people dont show to the appointment, how am I supposed to sell.

Maybe part of the reason is, I am dealing with ghetto Brooklyn NY, it might be the quality of the people???? dont know.

My experience is that no shows are going to happen all the time. You can't worry about it. I try to show up 10 minutes early to catch them before they leave or I come back during the next no-show of the day. Persistency is going to win you sales and not getting discouraged and giving up.

I do agree that the appointment setter is extremely important. But you can't blame it all on them. It's just the nature of the business. I have found that if you offer your appointment setter a share in the commission, they are more likely to make sure you meet with the client. They are like anyone and money will motivate.

I believe many no shows are caused by the way you sound on the phone. Yes it is true most of these buyers are not all that sharp but many of them are sorta "street smart". If They get an inkling after they hang up that you really don't sound like you know all that much afterall, many of them wil not show.

I get very few no shows but I also qualify the hell out of them before I even want to schedule the appointment. I want them thinking I am doing them a favor by agreeing to meet with them. Chasing them to get a sit down is a losing proposition.

I call the shots, not them. The good appointments are thinking they want and need to speak with me if they truly do want to save money and get a good policy. If you give them a good enough reason to meet with you they probably will. If you studder, stamper and basicly sound like a buffon over the phone, your going to get more no shows than the average bear.

JD how long u been in the business? Good info on the EFES teleleads. I was thinking about joining the lead program, but first I want to try what I can without it.
