Using Family for Telemarketing

"smoothly transition the call into a conversation".....upon which the telemarketer would almost certainly be participating in the material functions of an agent, and this person is not licensed, which is illegal............not that that would stop the 99% of agents who are on this forum.

I have hired telemarketers and appointment setters in the past. I would never consider hiring another one without first getting them licensed as an agent.

All a non agent tellemarketer/appointment setter can do is schedule a review. Working the senior market, it is a waste of my time to do a review.

This is some information that I picked up from this insurance forum:

I am going to use a telemarketer to cold call some consumers to set up some appointments for a niche life insurance product. My question is does the telemarketer have to have a life license to set up appointments? And can they ask questions related to health conditions, age, etc. to qualify the consumer as a good lead?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Re: Cold Calling with a Telemarketer Go to Top No, he or she does not need to be licensed in order to ask questions about diabetic life insurance or any other niche like burial insurance. Just like a paralegal can ask all of the questions pertaining to a legal case intake, and a front desk clerk at the doctor's office can ask the nature of your visit. It is the dispensation of legal, health, or insurance advice and counsel that requires the license.

The more he or she asks on your behalf of the potential client, of course the more qualified the lead. Then, you're spending your time with the best prospects!

A telemarketer can absolutely ask some qualifying questions without being licensed and to what extent they can do that is going to vary by state. That being said, I've seen very little merit in having telemarketers ask qualifying questions beyond making sure they are interested in life insurance (or whatever the product may be). Too often a good prospect is going to get concerned about giving health information and financial information (do you have a checking account) for it to really make sense for you to start having the telemarketer dig in that deep.

What lines of insurance are you looking to market?
How much of your own telemarketing have you done?

I'll be doing FE mainly because I have a large senior population in my area. My son will be setting up a web site for me when he is home from college and finals are over. Problem is most of my current clients don't have a computer, so I'm sure about how well that will work out. I want him mainly to set appointments to those who are interested. He won't be too involved with asking questions. I'll take care of that when I get an appointment going.

Even calling for appointments he will need to slog through 100 to find that one who is interested. Please try cold-calling for appointments yourself before driving your son to suicidal thoughts.

A website is important for the children that will be looking at the policy after you have left. They will need reassurance also after the sale as they will have more tech knowledge.
