Using Family for Telemarketing

Thanks JD but ratification I get from the DOI. Just wanted feedback from those who did what I was thinking to do. I guess a lot depends on people's family relationships. My is great, and I thing that makes the difference!

Really? The DOI told you it was a good idea to hire your son as a telemarketer?

I didn't know they got involved in an agent's business plan.

I have hired telemarketers and appointment setters in the past. I would never consider hiring another one without first getting them licensed as an agent.

All a non agent tellemarketer/appointment setter can do is schedule a review. Working the senior market, it is a waste of my time to do a review.

Agreed.

Makes me cynically wonder just how many agencies have non-agent personnel performing licensing-required duties of an agent.

Exactly, the DOI I ask for clarification. The forum I ask for opinions!

Exactly what did the DOI "clarify" or "rafify" for you?

What we know is they didn't "ratify" your business plan. What you may have gotten an ok on from DOI is the permissibility of using family members to work.........for your firm.........in......a........non-agent capacity..........which doesn't make any sense for that to have been asked because obviously you can hire anyone you want to perform non-agent tasks.....

so I guess what we're scratching our heads over is what exactly did you ask DOI and what did they "ratify" or "clarify"?

I'll regardless return to the idea its a bad idea to employ family, period. When I was in the mortgage business I wouldn't even close RE deals for them.......they expect you'll do it for free (never would I do that, not even for friends) and they'll drive you bonkers in the process.....demanding to know why I wasn't able to procure a below-market rate......its just a bad idea to do business with family.

I have bought auto insurance many times over the years and the lady at the front desk always took down my info and took my payment....I'm guessing they were never licensed agents.
