Vermont Going Universal?

Well...maybe. There are a few bills. In one bill the citizens of Vermont don't pay a dime. Companies get taxed and foot the bill. The state's largest employer - IBM - has already threated to pull out of the state if that bill becomes law.

Ironically, this will cause some of the libs to line up with Obama's flirting with the idea of passing the mess back to the states. Maine is another one that could fall into that category as well. They/we created their own broken plan which failed and therefore ended out supporting Obamacare wholeheartedly so that they could get the feds to pick up the tab and get out of it. But, if Obama keeps talking about letting the states do their own thing but sending money to them to subsidize it, then states like Vermont and Maine are going to love it- even though it sounds like it lines up with republican goals as well. The difference is of course that that money will not go to the states without conditions.

Doesnt matter much to Vermont though. The notion that Obama or Congress is going to come up with something further to the left than what they would want is absurd, so that is a good fit for them. The other states ...errrr...not so much.

Actually, I may need to retract my comment about Maine a little. We elected a Tea Party/ultra-conservative governor in the last election and he is against Obamacare and the state plan as well. I may need to update my thinking a bit-maybe even a lot. His election actually came as a bit of a surprise and we are still seeing how things shake out. You can count on Vermont still being pink though. Anything Obama creates tomorrow, they will gobble up like pigs at the trough in Vermont the next day. Look for the small signs, a socialist Senator.

You find me a health insurance agent in VT and I'll show you the poorest agent the industry has ever known.

VT, home of Ben and Jerry's, is a GI state. eHealth using 05601 zip code shows 5 plans only from MVP which apparently is an insurance carrier.

Even BX doesn't show up there (but they probably have a plan, just not on eHealth).

OK, they do have Blue plans. Something called Freedom and another called Catamount.

Looks like they have community rating too. Those rates were found without entering zip or ages.

Community rating + GI is a formula for failure.

Of course socialists like Obummer and Shebullshits just love these plans because it makes everyone . . . equal.

My son's rate in Vermont: $233.54 for a 5K deductible,
My son's rate in Georgia: ~$50 for a 5K deductible.

I guess they make more money up in Vermont than we do here in GA.

Agents or citizens?

Don't think the agents make that much in the land of Ben and Jerry.

Of course if your so was 58, a smoker, obese and on 6 different meds the price is a steal.

That's why I ran a young male rate. My son is healthy so I was just curious to see what the difference between states was for his age group. Ran a New York rate for a client once whose daughter moved to Manhattan (has crones disease, or however you spell that, uninsurable in GA). Her NY rate was around $1300 month, can't remember what the deductible was. Between that and the rent in NYC, hopefully she is making over $500K, but I doubt it.
