Well Here Goes...

Update

My excitment for this business is completely gone. State Farm is not competetive at all in the area around my office. We are getting leads within a radius of about 30 minute drive. I know with how times are now people are choosing price over customer service now a days.

I think my agent is doing all he can to get business but man, when I am double sometimes triple the premiums. How can i sell that? I know I wouldnt switch from say Citizens to State Farm for customer service for that price. Myself for example pay around $1200/ year with USAA, I did a quote on myself and the premium was $576/ MONTH!!! :D

Any advice guys? I really want to work for an idependent agency.

I live in TX near USAA and they are very good. Now, since you are not in TX, and might not wish to work there anyhow, find a good indy agent there in Michigan who is willing to take you under his wing and train you. You may even start with a life and health company and go to P&C later. The reason is: P&C is a commodity and people shop it, life insurance is for life, if you do it correctly.

First off, welcome to the forum :)
Don't let SF kill your enthusiasm for this industry (it almost killed mine!!) I just hope that the agent doesn't start doing unethical things to get people qualified....most of them do it and then blame the producers! Anyway....look for a job at an independent agency. You are licensed and you probably won't have a hard time finding a job, learn all you can from the indy and go out on your own.
