What Advise Can You Give Me?

I just spoke with Hartford here in TX. It's a different hierarchy than that one in Minnesota I believe. They have mail leads, and they are not free, more like in the $20 range. I wonder if it is similar? Anyway, the oportunity sounded OK to me, I will learn more and check back. I was under the impression it is a company sponsored deal and not an agency run deal- here in TX.

Before you start talking to clients about their finances, do learn the difference between the verb "advise" and the noun "advice."

That's expecting a lot, Al. Hell, many posters on here can't differentiate between then and than. I would suggest that they go to a website called elLearnEngishLanguage from which the following is excerpted:

The Bottom Line
Than is used only in comparisons, so if you're comparing something use than. If not, then you have to use then. What could be easier than that?

Al, the best advise I can give you is I would advice you not to get involved!

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!

There ISN'T a high quality program out there with truly unlimited income potential that gives you great quality leads for free. Fallen for those empty promises more than once. No more.

You can work at a bank... but your income will be capped - guaranteed.

I've heard of the Hartford life insurance sales position. Something just doesn't add up with it. You can't make 6-figures with the leads they provide you. It's just a fact. Most leads aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

If you can't make your own introductions to show people the kind of work you do, you may want to find another career.

I moved to Chicago knowing nobody. I joined a company that provides leads, mail responders & T65. They were not the highest quality but it was enough to get me started. I made decent first year commissions and built a client base to prospect & get referrals from.

If you have no sales experience, your focus should be on who will be directly training you. You need someone to believe in and fully commit to, then they will show you success, leads or not.

Not to mention there, their, and they're.

Given your background an opportunity that provides leads for you may be your best starting point. Your income potential may be limited in comparison to other opportunities that require your own lead generation, but there are only so many new things one can absorb. Hone your closing skills, and when you get frustrated by the limited earning potential, move on to a bigger challenge.
